ned finally settling the sid vs smitty banana bread debate

-ever have sid’s banana bread? i did! -how good was it? so good… SO good. smitty’s i would say is more of a dessert. he did it in a big cake pan. sid puts a little more thought and care into his. they’re all individually-made. he wraps them up nice. and that feels more like a snack. i’m gonna have to go with sid’s. i’m going to say sid’s was better. sorry, smitty. i think i told him that though! -did they both have chocolate chips? they both did!

i am like… once again so struck by abe’s empathy and generosity towards mihashi in the hand holding scene. abe, this ornery kid who, despite the fact that he finds him irritating and he’s only known him for a few weeks, recognizes just how hard mihashi has worked and how utterly and thoroughly rejected and bullied he was.

and he cries!! he sees his pain!! and the conclusion abe draws from this revelation is that he wants to help mihashi!!!! he wants him to succeed!!!!!!!

and mihashi’s reaction of unfiltered joy to this gesture of kindness is like… so overwhelming to me.

abe’s quick temper and mihashi’s social paralysis butt heads easily, and yet!!!! they want to work together!!!

two awkward teens who don’t quite click yet, but when they do connect, they have really beautiful moments like this

even though it’s difficult and clumsy, they’re trying to meet in the middle. because they want to play really good baseball together. they can see the shape of the thing they can become for each other and they want it!!!

and it’s just all so beautifully encapsulated in this scene
