The service provider class WLAN controller is designed to run in the cloud. The
vSZ is a key component that enables any kind of service provider to offer a fully managed service to their customers. This includes not only the access points on the customer premises but also the management of all the backend systems in the data center. One of the most important backend systems is the WLAN controller. vSZ is a virtualized version of the industry-leading SCG-200, leveraging network function virtualization to enable MSPs to deliver complete cloud-based services. vSZ can run on open source KVM or VMware hypervisors.
In addition to vSZ, RUCKUS offers Virtual SmartZone Data Plane (vSZ-D), a complementary NFV-compatible solution for secure user traffic aggregation, expanding deployment options in large networks to accommodate growing user data volumes while simplifying network configuration. For mission-critical applications that require a tunneled approach to data management (e.g., VoIP and guest access), vSZ-D is a cost-effective and flexible product that meets these requirements.
