“You’e not too bad. You could use some polishing up though. I can help if you want.”
“Really? You’d do that?” Maisie asked, excitedly. “I don’t want to do much, just a bit of self defence if that’s okay with you.”

“You’e not too bad. You could use some polishing up though. I can help if you want.”
“Really? You’d do that?” Maisie asked, excitedly. “I don’t want to do much, just a bit of self defence if that’s okay with you.”
“Oh! Well, I made them.”
“Really? Wow, that’s awesome! I used to make them with my dad when I was a lot younger, but I’ve completely forgotten how to do it now. I just remember there was a lot of sugar involved– he always told me off for taking a handful out of the bag.”Â
“You’re only telling me now that I’ve had spinach stuck between my teeth since the very morning?”
“I would have told you if I’d seen you earlier, I’m sorry.”
“Hush, don’t scare me like that. I don’t want to think you have mischief on your mind,” she chuckled, shaking her head.
“Oh, don’t worry– I don’t. Well, I do, but I never act on it, promise.”
“Or we could just change it ourselves.”
“We could,” she smiled. “Any ideas for names? Just please nothing like Tony.”
“Just because people usually eat these at Christmas doesn’t mean I can’t in August.”
“Oh, I’m not complaining– candy canes are my absolute favourite. I just wondered where you got them from, that’s all.”
“Who taught you how to fight?”
“Uhm, no one,” Maisie shrugged. “I’ve never really learnt how to do it, to be honest.”
“It doesn’t help of trying to break the stereotypes of Athena kids, though I guess every god has their stereotype.”
“Yeah, every God does– I’m not quite sure what Mum’s is though,” Maisie spoke. “By the way, If you want to complain to Chiron about Tony’s name, I’d definitely come with you.”
“Thank you,” Jack replied with a small smile. She hated asking for help, she wished she could do these things on her own but unfortunately she couldn’t anymore.
Maisie cautiously got to the top of the ladder and though her legs were shaking, she grabbed the box at the top and slowly clambered back down, not looking over the top of the ladder to try not to scare herself. She got to the last step, and placed her foot back onto the ground, swivelled around and wobbled a little bit, before steadying herself with the wall. “There you go,” she placed the box into her hands that were still shaking. “Is there anything else you need help with?”
“The climbing wall doesn’t like people at all. Especially me considering the amount of times I’ve made it to the top and back down again.”
“Ouch,” Maisie paused, looking at the cut closer. “The climbing wall did this to you? I’ve seen people come in with injuries from it, they’re normally sprains, but not cuts.”
“I thought they worked the same?”
“They do, it’s just that Nectar tastes better and acts quicker to help get rid of the pain faster. They’re not that much different to be honest.”
I saw these super cute flowers last weekend at the botanical garden ♡

“Who even thought of naming him Tony? I don’t understand the logic,” James said before sighing. “Oh Gods, please tell me that didn’t sound as much of a stereotypical Athena kid than I thought?”
“I don’t know, but someone should have stopped them,” she agreed. Listening to James going off on a tangent about logic made Maisie smile. “It kinda did, but it’s okay. You are an Athena kid, so you’re allowed to sound like one, no matter how stereotypical.”
