A very important snippet from Shawn Hatosy's Variety Interview about The Pitt
Part of the reason he didn’t see the interview was because he’s taken a step away from social media — something that felt necessary this season as some of the commentary became too intense. “I’ve had to kind of step back. Because sometimes it goes into these weird places where if fans disagree about a character, they start to turn on each other. That is not what this is supposed to be,” he says. “All through my career, I’ve had a pretty good relationship with social media, but now, seeing how all this is unfolding, I’m kind of reevaluating what that looks like.”
So-called "fans" need to read this over and over until it's burned into the backs of their eyelids, and then fucking reevaluate themselves.
SHAWN HATOSY The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon 6.11.2026
If you have a senior to check on ask them to "borrow" something small so they think they're helping you.
My mom (72) recently downsized and moved close enough to me that checking on her in person regularly is not really out of my way, but when I was obvious about it she wouldn’t let me “stop-by” because she was, “fine”.
Well, one day I actually needed some aluminum foil so I called and asked if I could borrow enough to cover a baking tin because I didn’t want to run to the store. She said sure, but when I got to her house she needed furniture moved, a wasp nest removed, and her coffee pot fixed. After I got the foil I mentioned each thing cautiously and she let me take care of them for her. So next weekend I’ll need a cup of rice and check on her again.
Even better, here’s an array of more reciprocal options for building relationship & supporting seniors’ dignity and independence:
- ask for something they can actually help you with. Elders have skills. Mending? Advice about knitting, gardening, home repair, nevermind professional training?
-ask about their experiences. “I was reading about xyz event the other day & I would love to know what that time was like for you. Can we chat about it over tea?” Goes double for family history for relatives.
-“Someone gave me this [or, I ended up with extra] & I don’t need/want it, but I bet you have a use for it. Can I bring it over? I would hate for it to go to waste.”
-work side-by-side. They get your physical help, you get their experience & expertise. “Could I come over & have you show me how you [used to] prune your gorgeous roses? I’m trying to get better with mine.”
I need fat female characters in tv whose weight is inconsequential. It means nothing to the story.
She's fat and gets the guy and no one bats an eye.
She's fat and the hottest chick in the sorority and that's normal.
She's fat and an actress and she gets good roles.
She's fat and she's funny and she has character depth and growth.
She's fat and the main character and no one mentions her weight once.
I'm fat and my weight doesn't play a part in my day to day conversations, or plans, or friendships. Why can't I have that on tv?
hi everyone! sorry i’m more active on other platforms but i figured i’d post here too! i opened an Etsy shop and posted my first listing! i’ve been having fun making these “Stay mad. My house is one of the houses in the middle of the picture. Our house was wonderful; our life was refined; everything was beautiful. After the recent war, life became sad, and misery filled my heart. Now we live without a home, without the basic necessities of life.
I write these words with a broken heart, a trembling voice, and a shattered soul. My entire family is suffering, and time is running out.
My child is shivering in the bitter cold, his tiny body cannot withstand this frost, and his cough tears at my heart every night. He should be dreaming, playing, and laughing — not fighting to stay warm.
I write these words with a broken heart. To everyone who reads this and moves on—my entire family is suffering. My child is sick and has a cold, my pregnant wife is weak, struggling with anemia and malnutrition, and every passing moment adds to our pain. Please donate and share.
Gofundme - Vetted #53
I repeat this with a broken heart: I will not forgive anyone who sees my post and continues to die. My children are withering away. Please share and donate now. Don't let your silence cause my children to disappear.

the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.

ive got mad beef with the fact that when the pitt fandom talks about the night shift THEY NEVER INCLUDE LENA HANDZO
can you imagine people constantly leaving Dana out of all dayshift discussions? as if she isnt important? as if she doesnt prove that the charge nurse is the most important person in the ED?
okay, then why the fuck are you leaving Lena, the night shift charge nurse, out of all discussions about the night shift crew?
and people have already started including Mateo, Crus, and Nazely (all of whom I love) so why not include Lena? she had just as much time if not more than Crus and Nazely in season 2. maybe even combined. and as a death doula and her relationship with Roxie and Roxie's family, Lena is so fucking interesting
now ive got an idea why people are leaving her out, and i will not accept criticism that i am "too woke" for thinking/saying this: yall leave Lena out of the discussion bc she is too old and not conventionally attractive enough for you to thirst after (which is insane to me but whatever)
i already hear the rebuttals of "oh but there are plenty of older characters on the show that we thirst after" yeah i know, im not blind. but those characters are all thin, and Lena Handzo is not thin. she has a very average body for a woman her age, and shes a pretty woman as well. but she still isnt the ideal canvas for you to project your mommy issues onto the way you do with Dana
no hate to people who do project their mommy issues/kink onto Dana, btw, bc that woman is fine af and i understand your obession. but because shes all cool and badass and does not display overwhelmingly feminine traits (ex: she is loud and commanding, funny and snarky, but less often does she display her softer and more nurturing traits). compared to Dana, Lena seems a lot more motherly. and here is where im about to get real woke: if you were pissed off at Noah Wyle saying a nightshift spinoff would be boring bc its all moms working night shift and moms are boring, then you are part of the problem and support his claim by ignoring Lena Handzo when you talk about night shift
so yeah, we all love night shift, the nightcrawlers are a very interesting and cooky and lovable bunch, but if you are excluding Lena Handzo from that conversation then i am going to show up in your bedroom at 2:53 am every night and stand over you menacingly until you start showing her the respect she deserves. i am already under your bed.
“No, you are not fully capable, and you know it.”
You can really tell who’s never experienced poverty and food insecurity when it comes to discussions around food costs and how unhealthy food is cheaper. Some fucker always comes in with the price of like… lettuce or… apples. And it’s like yeah bitch but can you work an 11 hour shift after eating some salad and an apple!?! Find me something cheaper, and more filling than the broke ass staples of boxed mac and cheese, hot dogs, noodles, bread, beans, and rice. I’ll wait.
It also ignores the mental toll that poverty takes like maybe your home made veggie filled recipe isn’t crazy expensive but it also involves prep time and cooking time and organization in terms of fresh food that a lotta poor people can’t manage.
Not to mention if you can only afford to get to the store once every couple weeks via bus or cab then you can’t keep fresh veg on deck.
But ya know.. poor people are just dumb and lazy.
