“How old are you?”
“I turned 16 in April. I’m not some kid if that’s what you wanted to know”
elliotxharper:
Elliot bit lightly on his lip for a moment, thinking how he should respond. “Yeah… I know, you’re probably right— y’know, that no one really belongs here… I’m glad you’re better though.” He wasn’t sure if that statement of her being better was genuine or not, or whether it was similar to what he was doing… but he wasn’t about to question it- not openly out loud, at least. It wasn’t his place, and he’d just be a hypocrite if he doubted her.
Makayla smiled. “I’m glad you’re better too.” She wanted to believe this place actually helped people, mostly because if it did then she’d get out sooner. But the longer she was in this place, the more uncertain she was about ever getting out.
leihenare:
“What is it?” She wondered, looking at what the other girl had come over to her with. There were a couple nurses nearby in the background but it didn’t really strike anything in Lei as strange or suspicious. It looked close enough to a milkshake like she said so she reached to take it from her so she could taste it.
“it’s this meal replacement shake. They, well they make me drink them sometimes if i don’t finish my food and I’m just really full.” She handed it over gladly as the girl reached out to try it.
sloaneconnelly:
“Oh please, kid. Do you think you’re clever?”
“I’m only as clever as you are attractive.”
everything was quite dark for lei at the moment. she was tired and unwell and had spent many days in her bed. now though she had ventured out and was taking a little walk up and down the halls to exercise. “i’m really craving a milkshake.” she sighed out to herself as she turned the corner.
Makayla had managed to convince the nurses to be able to drink her meal replacement shake while walking the hallways, provided she was supervised to make sure she actually drank it. Hearing someone mentioning a milkshake, she perked up, hoping she could get someone else to drink the shake she hated so much. Looking around, she saw the nurse that was supposed to be watching her talking to another nurse. She quickly headed over to the other girl. “This isn’t exactly a milkshake but it’s close enough right?”
“I’m a lot better– from when I first got here, you know.” He stated, to no one in particular. Really, just the closet person. “I…—I learned a lot and everything… I just– I don’t belong here…” Only the thing was, he hadn’t learned anything. He still felt as if any confrontation in the slightest would cause the sky to fall, and he still had absolutely zero self worth… Not to mention his urges of self harm only seemed to get worse and worse each day. His claim that he didn’t belong there couldn’t be further from the truth. Of course he belonged there…. he needed help. Deep down, he knew it was true. However, he still felt as though he didn’t deserve help. Besides, there were other people who needed help more than he did… he’d just be taking up the doctors time and energy when they should have been spending that on people who had real problems.
“Me too kid, me too.” She knew she was lying, but today was one of Makaylas better days recently, and she couldn’t help but feeling like all of a sudden she was ready to be let out. After all, clearly she didn’t need to be in here, her ankle wasn’t broken anymore and she’d only gotten worse in here. If only they would let her go home, she’d get so much better, she’d eat without feeling guilty, she’d gain the weight she knew she probably needed and most of all, she wouldn’t keep isolating herself. “I don’t think anyone really belongs here.”
charlieswann:
He listened to her, her rant about it not being fair. It was just Brielle you know. Not being fair. Doctor Wright had promised him outside time and being out to go back to school but he still was in here following a few online courses and that’s about it… He was getting better. Slept hours through the night and didn’t woke up screaming every goddamn hour nor every morning. But still. Still he was stuck in here whilst he could have been out… He fucking proved this place he could have been out of here, but here he was. Not liable enough to go out alone yet. Or something shitty like that. Charlie had two goddamn notes one from his therapist and one from Sebastian telling he is ready to start taking classes. But Doctor Wright had to be a ass and keep him in.
“I get it~ Or at least I think I do… I-I think everyone in here wants to get out. Wants to be ‘free’ but it’s not that easy you know.” He said softly as he leaned against the wall behind him. “I have been in here for over a year and I wish nothing more to be out of here. But here I am. It’s never that easy when you are the one thinking you’re ready for something and someone else telling you’re not…” Did he just took it too far? Said something that was better to keep to himself? Probably! “But I think you’re on the right way love. You just need to prove to them they are wrong. And I’m goddamn sure you can!”
It definitely hadn’t been Makaylas choice to come to Brielle. Hell, the majority of her life hadn’t been her choice. She hadn’t chosen for her mother to die before she was barely out of diapers, nor had she chosen for her father to start drinking soon thereafter. The only thing she had ever chosen, or really chosen in her life was to copy her cousin, and begin to dance, and go on a diet. Looking back on it, she wished she never started, never became addicted to the idea of starving her body of everything it needed to live. The one choice she had ever made in her life and it had resulted in her body being so damaged she had to have every little choice made for her, by being put into Brielle. There was no more choosing what and when she could eat, or when she could exercise.
She listened to Charlie. “Y-yeah. I just... I thought it would be easier you know?” She wiped away one of her tears. “I thought all of this was over. I thought I was better and then I came here and they all think I’m getting worse.” It had been a while now since she had left the cafeteria and she was sure that the nurses were still looking for her. “I think... I think I can do that I just...” She paused, not really wanting to go back. “N-no I can’t do it.”
“I understand I’m attractive. Stop staring.”
“And what makes you think I’m staring at you because you’re attractive?”
charlieswann:
Even though he might be shaking. Mostly out of lack of sleep and not having enough caffein in his body to care for anything else. The girl was shaking even more. Her whole body was vibrating. Almost as if she would launch into the air if Charlie would move his hand.
Even though he was sure she would vanish the moment he would let go. He did let his hand drop off her shoulder hearing her voice. “I know that feeling love… It’s what this place does to people to be honest.” He had that feeling of being lost on many occasions. Just not even knowing what he was doing in here and if he would ever get out. “Anything I can do for you? Get you a cup of coffee or tea or just water. Or I could show you another one of my quiet spots which most of the nurses don’t know about..!”
Something about not eating always made her feel light. Weightless almost, like she would float away like a feather at any given moment. At that moment, she felt that way, and the shaking only made it seem worse. It was as if the only things holding her down to the ground were Charlies hand and her shoes, that seemed too heavy for her feet. His taking his hand off her shoulder was just about the last thing she needed, but surprisingly enough, her shaking didn’t get any worse.
“It’s just not fair. I was getting better, I promised I would and then they just went and locked me up!” She just shook her head at the question. “No, I-I just need to prove to them.” She knew she was in denial, the last thing she wanted to do was finish that meal, she just wanted to keep feeling this light, and not guilty. But part of her still thought she really was fine, and that she would start eating normally again if she left Brielle. “I’m fine, I just need to prove it to them, that’s the only way.”
Continued from here
“Oh...well then how do you know I haven’t moved? I could just be coming to this spot for a few minutes, and you just happen to walk by.”
“you’ve been in that same exact spot since 9 this morning.”
“Have you been watching me this whole time or something?”
“OHhh i like to dance too.“ She said looking up at makayla and smiled. “Like baby smarkk…“ The toddler started to shake her booty. “doo doo doo.“ She tried to cheer the other girl up.
Makayla couldn’t help but giggle at the girls singing and dancing. She jumped into the song, not caring that it was meant for little kids, and did the hand actions with it.
I had a seizure so they’re keeping me in this hospital bit, though I keep telling them that I’m fine. Im so bored.
“I don’t blame you. It seems pretty boring in here.”
Even the three year old could understand that the portion sizes were way too much. She didn’t eat much, and what she did was monitored by her mother since she left whatever she didn’t eat in there. Her mother made sure to pack some of lexie’s favorites. Most of her meals were tiny and snacks… she liked meals too but couldn’t really do it as a family at work. Even i’m tired of biting things, she said to the older one.“
Makayla nodded, trying her best to smile. “They give us a lot of food.” She bent down to sit near the younger girl, hoping she was far enough away from the cafeteria that they wouldn’t come looking for her there. “I can see how you’d be tired of biting.”

“Do you even know what you’re doing?”
“We’ve already tried this.”
“You don’t even know what you’re doing.”
“Beyonce isn’t that great.”
“How many times do I have to tell you?”
“You have five seconds…”
“I don’t even know who you are.”
“Didn’t your parents ever tell you that?”
“Is this where you live?”
“… Why are your hands down your pants?”
“Is that a lobster?”
“You’re late on child support.”
“You never go ass to mouth.”
“One ring to rule them all…”
“He doesn’t even go here!”
“Did you just take that?”
“Is that a unicorn?”
“You’re a muggle.”
“It’s your turn to do the dishes.”
“Were you going through my computer?!”
“Are you pregnant?”
“You need to be honest with yourself, no one likes Nickelback.”
“Shut up.”
“I know you’re having an affair.”
“They’re dead.”
“Voldemort isn’t dead.”
“Let me see your phone.”
“I can’t believe it’s over.”
“How high are you right now?”
“I was with someone.”
“It’s not necessary to replace you, you’re not missed.”
“Why do you think we never worked out?”
“What went wrong?”
“You’re the most ridiculous person I know.”
“Are you okay?”
“I’m having an affair.”
“Too little too late.”
“Snoop Dog just came into the diner.”
“You said we could get a puppy.”
“I need to move out.”
“You ordered a moon bounce?”
“Don’t you want me?”
“Meeting your mother changed my life.”
“Janitor’s closet NOW.”
“Is that for sale?”
“Do you want to get a drink sometime?”
“Your resilience is comparable to that of a cockroach.”
“He has a knife!”
“I was on an episode of Cops once.”
“Are you a hoarder?”
“We’re alone out here, you know?”
“I killed her.”
“I need to go.”
“Why did you invite me to your wedding?”
“You always do this!”
“You’re the master of excuses.”
“Did you hire a stripper?”
“I just got out of jail.”
“It was you all along?”
“I know you don’t want to be with me anymore.”
“Were you ever happy?”
“You’ve been in that same exact spot since 9 this morning.”
“There’s plenty of fish in the sea.”
“This is it.”
“I can’t believe it’s you.”
“We’re getting evicted.”
“I know who you are.”
“I wrote you a letter… Every single day.”
“They’re going to kill me.”
“You had sex with a serial killer.”
“Are you drunk?”
“I didn’t love you anyways.”
“That was the worst day ever.”
“That was the best day ever.”
“Is this your first date?”
“I’ve never been kissed before.”
“You’re famous!”
“I can’t see you anymore.”
“What’re you here for?”
“It’s always been you.”
“If this were a movie…”
“Are you high?”
“Stick a sock in it.”
“You’re better off without me.’
“I’m better off without you.”
“You’re like a freaking Taylor Swift song.”
“What do you want?”
“Fuck it.”
“That’s the worst advice I’ve ever heard.”
“Who ARE you anymore?”
“Can I get a refill?”
“Well you don’t see that everyday.”

Lexie just smiled as she helped the girl put her clothes away, she loved helping and seeing peoples reactions to watching a three year old actually do stuff most people didn’t do. “Welcome.” She smiled as she walked over to the bottom drawer, she was happy it was the bottom one because it was just the right height for the toddler. She didn’t really put them in neatly but you could still find things if you needed to. “Yes you special.” She said pointing to the girl, and not mentioning the clothes. “I like helping!” She smiled wide, “i good helper, what you like?” She said remembering the girl didn’t care for folding clothes, maybe she liked something else.
The little girl was just too cute. She seemed to know exactly what the other girl wanted her to do, even without her saying it. When the younger girl asked what she liked, she smiled, not hesitating to say the one thing she missed most. “Dance.”
charlieswann:
Charlie had heard the small explosion the girl had outed as she stormed out of the cafeteria. He himself had just finished his sandwich and was still sipping at his black coffee. Even though she was quite clear about the fact she wanted to be alone, he got up from his seat. Mug of coffee left on the table as he walked after her. He had lost her before actually chasing her. But whatever. He could try to walk into her. If not, he would make his way to the library and continue his daily studying. Just as he decided to turn around and walk into the opposite direction he bumped into the girl. His hand on her shoulder to steady himself as he looked at her. “Hey~ You okay?”
Feeling a shaky hand on her shoulder Makayla glanced up to see her friend Charlie. Or at least, she assumed she could call him a friend since he was the closest thing she had to one in Brielle. She was shaking, from anger, from malnutrition, and just from being upset. She had almost finished her meal, at least she’d eaten more than half, and she didn’t understand why they were trying to make her drink a full shake.
When he asked if she was okay, Makayla just broke, the pressure to eat, to recover, and all without her biggest support system was just getting to be too much. She was sick of being alone, sick of eating, sick of not eating, sick of exercising and sick of not exercising. No matter what she did, it never seemed to be good enough for anyone, least of all herself. “ I just- “ She began to stammer, not knowing what to say. “I don’t even know anymore.” She said finally after a few seconds to let herself breathe.
