Did you know, that my family (Kotova) means something kinda “related to cats” or “belonged to cats”, because “Kot” in my family means “cat”, and postfix “ova”(for a male second name it would be “ov” (“Kotov”)) so as "yn"/"yna" usually means something like “this part of word before”+ belonging or relating. For example, second name “Petrov”/"Petrova" can be “translated” as “Peter’s”, or “Ptitsyn"/"Ptitsyna" - as “Bird’s”(Russian word “Ptitsa” translated as “bird”). I hope it was interesting for you!🐾🐾🐾

I will fill my blog with some news, interesting (or not), but you also can ask me about everything. Even if it’s just a little question or a big letter for a hundred pages- I’ll be happy to read it all and post an answer as soon as I can! *** Now I suggest I need to introduce myself. My full name is Maria (it’s increasingly used in Russia as Masha) Kotova and I’m 18 years old. If you’ll take first letters of my name and second name - you will get “MaKoto”. I like Japan so that’s why I’ve taken this nickname!🐈

Hi! This weekend was at my grand’s town. I have all my grand’s alive. Mom’s parents live together and there are always a lot of yummyes. They live at big flat near by fir-pine forest and old railway. Sometimes some pronounces from railway station are heard from our balcony. Mom’s parents also have a dacha - country house or summer cottage near by town. There are a little house without any communications and granny’s beautiful garden with a huge amount of flowers (she’s the greatest gardener and housekeeper ever, although she (and grandfather) still working!). Father’s parents are divorced and my grandma lives at little flat near by central town park (it calls as central because it’s big but really it is situated at the “old” city (this town was a scientific town at 50-70s so old part of this town, which was built at this time, is called as “old town”). Father’s dad live at 12 km from this town at village. He has a old wooden house (usual house, not “isba”, but there is old and not working “pechka”. Granddad also has big parcel with a lot of wooden buildings like barns, “banya” and hayloft. When I was a child I loved to climb up on them and sit on roofs/lay on hay/rip apples from high limbs… When I was a child, I helped at building of banya… or I thought I helped (probably I was disturbing more …) :))) And also my granddad has a big garden where he is growing up a lot of different vegetables and berries. But he’s very old and sometimes he had mm.. Some problems with alcohol, so my father helps him every weekend or about it(it usually takes 2-3 hours to reach this village from Khimki and Moscow). Grandma also goes there quite often, to plant new flovers, berries or vegetables. This weekend I helped to wash all the floors at my dad’s grandparents houses and eated A LOOOOOOOOT of yammy at my mother’s grandma citchen🤗 Oh, and we’ve gone to career, which was flooded, so now there is a huge lake. It was very sunny and warm (tooooooo warm as I think), so we had a very nice swimming there!

As I said, I’m a student of faculty of geography at MSU, so on the 1st course we had 5 different training courses. There are “Geography ”, “Ecology ”, “Topography ”, “Hydrometeorology” and “Tourism ”(but the last is not exactly geographical discipline at MSU, ‘course even people there should pass through History exam, not Geography!). So the 1st course we learned together, but now we can choose our future department just from departments in borders of our “orientations”. For example I can choose only from 4 “ecological ” depts on my faculty. But anyway every geographer from MSU should pass through 7 different practices: topography, geomorphology, meteorology, botany, pedology, hydrology and landscape’s practice. We work for two months of summer at MSU’s science base at Satino. It’s important part of our study, because every geographer should know and understand elements of this sciences. On this photos you can see a big project of my group at topography. 4 people including me for 10 days have made different geodesic works to get this plan of river Protva and it’s banks. It was sooooooo hard…. But I’ll tell you this story with next posting) Thanks for reading, dear!🐈🐾🐈🌍🐈🐾🐈
