...Or rather, to be more precise, I am the chief researcher for all that happens in Limbus Company, currently on a 'leave of absence'; on loan to the Bus Division as their Second Sinner for the purpose of collecting data and taking accurate notes on the progress of my 'fellow' sinners, while my research has been left in as capable hands as were available.

Of course. As it stands, I am the closest thing our manager would have to an 'aid', apart from our guide, of course. I have provided the manager with several descriptions and warnings regarding my fellow sinners on this bus, though I would be surprised if they have not already tossed them out.

A researcher must observe those they work with, or are to take notes upon. They seemed quite interested in the view granted into this place; and I myself cannot deny a bit of curiosity regarding it.

Now then.

"Her ability to follow rules and commands without a second thought is quite commendable; though it makes one wonder if a prescript ever instructed her to breathe... Still, as long as you don't contradict that infernal device around her neck, I'm sure she'll be of great use to you, Manager."

"Perhaps, be careful when hiding information from her, Manager. Her ability to hold a grudge is far above maybe all but our Seventh Sinner's… Ah, but don't worry too much. She's just as good at soaking her personality in water so as to hide even the faintest traces of anything poignant, or willful. Some would argue it's a trait we share."

"You've your work cut out this time, team-lead. His aptitude for mental gymnastics when it comes to blaming others for his own mistakes is second to none. With how blessed he is at those, it's a miracle he joined us, rather than pursuing a competitive yoga career."

This blog is for a potential alternate bus’ Sinner No #2, where that slot was filled by Hohenheim, rather than by Faust. As such, I would recommend clicking the links above to learn about how he joined the Bus (just some surface information / set-dressing, for now), as well as to learn about his E.G.O.: Maladaptive Analysis, as well as his weapon, Hermeticism, or as it is often called, Hermie. Think of Hermie as a sort of Mascot Character... Though, descriptions of both can be found below!

Maladaptive Analysis Maladaptive Analysis (in battle, referred to as Maladaptive Analysis: Extinction Sequence), allows Hohenheim to manifest the eye of the 'observer', of the 'team leader', of the 'manager', raised aloft by all the dead coworkers he left behind in his past. It shows the potentiality of that which falls in its gaze, and its with the Sword of Paracelsus, a dagger which forms in Hohenheim's hand, that the potentiality is brought to bear; either removing something from the equation, or adding something, or simply changing something.

In battle, it's used to inflict various wounds that failed to land before; outside of battle, it has its use in forcing outcomes at the cost of one who is affected by its life; for to bring about potentiality, the other potential outcome must be removed. For that reason, after its use (at least until after L.C.E. intervallo or his canto), Hohenheim will always get himself killed in the process of using it, to avoid anyone else suffering from his mistakes.

Hermeticism A strange weapon crafted for the peculiar set of E.G.O. Gear that Hohenheim Utilizes in battle and his day-to-day activities, which takes the form of a miniaturized Shock Centipede crawls over and follows the user. When the user engages in combat, the Centipede will wrap itself around the user's dominant arm, driving its nails into their flesh, and allow its upper half to go limp; turning itself into a whip, with the ability to latch onto enemies and shock them.

Hohenheim claims to have shaped the weapon himself (explaining its differences to that of AEDD's "standard" E.G.O. Gear Weapon) as a way to "distance his own thoughts" from that of the Abnormality from whom the E.G.O. gear was extracted from's own. Even still... He refers to it as 'Hermie', rather than by the full name scrawled on its metallic carapace, and though he claims it to be little more than a weapon... Alyssa and Marton have both saw him feeding it, during the time he spent at the L.C.E., and talking to it as he worked on his research.

It, is why they agreed to go in on an Ant Farm together for his Birthday.

did you have a favorite abnormality to work with while you were in the LCE? do you miss working with any of them now?

...Hm. Now that is an interesting question, for the first time in ages; though, admittedly, I might say that I do not have a 'simple' answer for it. Perhaps, that is what makes it interesting.

When dealing with Abnormalities of any sort, there is a certain level of caution and healthy anxiety one must keep in mind. The wrong work-type, the wrong employee, even the wrong E.G.O. Gear or Qliphoth Deterrence Level can be catastrophic. There are even Abnormalities that I have heard tale of killing those who work with them for the crime of doing well at caring for the Abnormality; where so-called 'Bad Work Results' are preferred.

So the baseline, one should assume, is that the answer is no. No one 'misses' working on an Abnormality, because to do so would be missing the concept of death itself; and in many cases, the concept of missing something far worse.... But if there was an Abnormality I ever erred on the side of finding interesting...

Shouldn't it be obvious, to the reader?

Shock Centipede, T-02-11-04; Risk Level HE-03. There is a part of me which finds the writhing, refusal to die whence pushed to and past its limits... Fascinating. That ability to, at the very end of everything, grab hold and demand that its life must go on, so much so that it would turn even its internal structure into energy. I find such resourcefulness...

What an interesting proposition. I never took any of you for the sort who might be interested in the 'ethics' of what it is we do. But very well. Let us peer into the ethics, hm?

In an ideal world, I would have a very different answer for you. Yes, in an ideal world, there would be far more stringent, far more specific limits within research. Those that would protect not only the researcher, but those assisting them with their work. After all, in such a world, it would be that only when all are truly safe can one throw themself completely into their work, wouldn't it? That they could then throw themselves as fully, as completely, and as effortlessly into it all without any fear of negative repercussions.

...But we do not live in this supposed 'ideal' world; nor am I a part of it.

I would state, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that research does not have any limits. I have seen first-hand that anything... Anyone can and will be sacrificed in the name of research. There is - frankly - little to nothing that would make one 'invaluable', save for one's knowledge... But even that must be something you are willing to put on the line to get ahead of your competitors, in this day and age.

So I am unsure where I would draw the line. I am unsure where I would state the 'ethical' place to do so would even be, for in this world, if you spare another you're simply dooming them to another fate: that is to be left behind by progress. Perhaps then, the only truly ethical choice, would be to draw the line around myself; so that their life would be offered up, so that my knowledge could live...

Or that so my life and knowledge could be offered up, in service of their future.

While I do not mind those who are often referred to as brash, quick to anger, or loud, for those the ones who often-times create the most interesting possibilities, I dislike his propensity blaming others for his own missteps. There is also the matter of how often he has destroyed the research matter in question should he actually supply us with anything interesting.

...Ah, after slogging through everything here... This appears to be an interesting question. An oxymoron, really; for how could one who is a "sinner" be deemed "nice"?

But I jest.

Hm... I would say that amongst the sinners, there are a few key individuals I would refer to as the 'nicest'. Of course, if I were to talk simply about the one who is naturally the 'kindest', it would be natural to direct it to our fourth sinner; however, it is worth noting that a majority of her kind acts are predetermined by the Prescripts she has been given. Ergo, without them, one could argue that she would not be nearly as kind... Though, there is a fair amount of gentleness within her soul.

Next, I might suggest... Perhaps lady Daiyu? She's been at least somewhat helpful whenever it comes to assisting me in matters of strength; and I'm rather grateful for such assistance... Ah, and she's also quiet to boot. Quite the welcome combination, given the rest of the bus' propensity for yapping, don't you think?

There is, also, of course, our third sinner, Lady Don Quixote... Though 'nice' or 'kind' may not be the right word. 'Just', perhaps? That is liable to be the term she would prefer. Just. Though her exact definition of such a thing is barbaric, it at least has kept her from ending my life whensoever I have needed someone to speak at rather than to in my time here; and she seems to know when to shut up or ask questions in my experience. A skill many of them lack.

...There was a pause as Hohenheim held a hand out for the white bird to land on; its assault on his face finally coming to an end. All in all, he could see how it would cause trouble back at the Head Quarters. Even in such a situation, it only made sense that they would attack a perceived 'monster', only to be devoured; even Hermeticism attempted to bring about such a fate... Ah, but if one treated it with kindness instead, it does in fact appear to calm down quite swiftly.

The problem, however, he noted, arose when it began to land; light refracting around it, there was a moment where it appeared black, and then... Disappeared, for a moment, as a new message sprung from his electronic device. An unpleasant expression crossed his face then, as the white bird fully flickered away, and standing before him...

"...O-02-62. I see, so this is their game," his voice was hollow, and empty, as a slight sigh escaped his breath. He stared at the hulking bird before him. Black feathers, as black as night, with a set of scales balanced upon its winding neck; leading to the bandaged appendage it called a head, 'stared' back at him, and for a moment, he felt a slight tinge of something. One might have suspected it was fear, but he knew this to be a physical response, as something was crawling up from his pocket once more, with reckless speed, too. Hermie had climbed up his coat again, and wrapped defensively around his shoulders. A futile effort, given their current level of strength, and the... Outcomes, of most things reported from headquarters.

"Stand down, Hermeticism," Hohenheim closed his eyes, and buried his hands into his pockets. "We've no chance against it, but it stands no chance leaving this room either. To put it simply, I may as well record what information I can regarding it, until it disappears, or is replaced by some other beast," he stated plainly, as...

The bird began to reach towards the unbalanced scales; clearly with the intent to be not only his judge, but executioner, as well.

...An interesting question, though one I find difficult to answer, admittedly. Any inference of the 'danger' I pose to our operations would be tinged with bias, were they to come from me. After all, as the one in charge of our recordkeeping, and of keeping note on the Sinners' progress so as to compile reports for the Company, it is difficult for me to give an unbiased ranking with myself in the mix. Were we in different circumstances, I would prefer that one other than myself give a ranking...

However, in an attempt to answer your query, I'll simply state as such.

Though my genius is unparalleled within the company, and my research is tantamount to the lifeblood of everything we seek to accomplish, I would consider myself less 'physically' dangerous than many here. Of course, Hermeticism serves as quite the equalizer, however, my actual skill when it comes to combat is still on the low-side; even accounting for the contract raising my combat capabilities, it is still the E.G.O. Gear I wear which even gives me a passing chance to stand alongside the other members of this bus in combat. As for other layers of danger... I will admit that my ambition and pride could serve to eventually cause issue, should things go awry from the plan which has been laid out for our journey; but I'm also reasonably confident in my ability to improvise in such a situation to keep it from being an issue.

So it is, I do not view myself as dangerous; but if you would like to, then there is little I can do to disagree. It is all a matter of perspective, after all.

"Ah, I see it's begun," Hohenheim paused for a moment, as, through the window of the PDA, the white bird fluttered out from containment, and began to peck at him. He winced for a moment, but relaxed as he closed his eyes, and realized the damage was... Minimal. If anything, there was an almost calming affect given off by the attack. "How interesting. Though I've never seen you," he paused for a slight moment, as the bird moved to diligently attacking his face; though he still seemed none-the-worse for wear.

"You match the description of one of the abnormalities that was contained within the HQ. O-02-56, was it?" he paused, tapping at his chin for a moment. "Yes. You must be, which would mean... Hermie, if you wouldn't mind returning to your pocket," he cleared his throat, a hand coming up to block the head of the Centipede, which had started to lunge towards the bird from his neck. "I'd rather observe this one, rather than become its lunch, if you don't mind."
