water wraith was smitten immediately when feyre gave her the jewellery. people are usually stingy with wraiths bc of the insatiability thing and yeah, it's true and sure, she does take a mile when offered an inch but it's still nice to be offered that inch, you know. anyway water wraith was so charmed that she decided to not just take the inch of jewellery but rather the mile of feyre's whole being as hers.

feyre took a bit longer, she first got abducted by and underwater married to the water wraith but she grew to appreciate her. feyre has her own brand of insatiability but in the emotional sense, she craves constant attention and validation and the water wraith is absolutely willing and able to always shower feyre with support and praise and doesn't judge this endless well of need, she gets it. so they're happy underwater wives living their underwater lives

those two do not have the boundaries of separate wardrobes. they are similar enough in figure that all their clothes are joint property. however, it is largely ianthe who buys the outfits and while feyre hates being given clothes or dressed up outright she loves rummaging through ianthe's stuff. feyre has been known to actively steal the outfit ianthe laid out for herself, but it's all fine, they double, triple and quadruple bluff each other. (plus they are either twinning or their outfits clash violently. no inbetween)

both stryga and feyre are creatures of habit and thrive on repetition. so in ten years feyre will still be with rhysand and tell him she has some business to do and go roleplay the ring heist (sexy version) with stryga. rhys was invited once but as his role is sitting in a tree while the good stuff is happening in the hut he has refused to participate since. the roleplay is evolving very slowly due to their immortality so it's still quite similar to the original event after ten years. but in four centuries it will be barely recognisable, it'll feature a knife throwing game and loom bondage by then

Cannot forgive that Feyre stole Lucien just to spite Tamlin.

Honestly that whole thing is so silly bc wtf even is feyre's motivation. I think she says something ab him not fitting in in spring so she's supposed to be selflessly saving him from evil tamlin, but lucien likes that blondie and still goes back to visit him, plus he doesn't fit in with velaris either, he just can't really be anywhere else and leaves immediately once he finds jurian and vassa to hang with. Like it's genuinely her mothering him and pushing him into a life she approves of, like with nesta (i have a whole post on that parallel)

So idk in my reading between the lines reading feyre needs to prove to herself that she wasn't the problem in her relationship with tamlin or in spring in general. And as long as lucien stays by her side she can say, see, Tamlin is the problem, lucien chose me over him. She's just super insecure and who isn't at 19. But her way of dealing with it is exaggerating maturity, see also her old ass boyfriend and tween pregnancy

rewriting acosf in my mind once more and I think the plot lines for feyre and nesta should have been switched. feyre can do everything anyway let her do a lot of the going places doing things. nesta can still wield stuff and be powerful while pregnant, idk plot is irrelevant to me i care about character drama.

nesta should get a pregnancy plotline, father unknown, she knows she needs to get her life in order for parent reasons. her anti depression training is more pre natal classes rather than warrioring, maybe some of the women in the library had their own traumatic conceptions or births or relationships with the father or something and we can talk about that and show the breadth of human (fae) experience. you can make gwyn a mother, you can make emerie pregnant if you want, just these three women becoming a mom group with very different experiences of becoming a mother or something.

it would also play nesta's and cassian's relationship drama much better imo, he needs to get over his weird possessiveness and here you could pitch his anger at nesta for not being with him against his deep seated issues with how his mother was treated for having a bastard son. from that inner conflict he could grow to be a good stepfather and evolve a better and deeper understanding of both nesta whom he demonised and his mother whom he idealised. women are people and all that.

and if you want nessian to succeed against eris by being better matched, make eris very critical of nesta having a first born child that isn't his heir or something, he could ask her to leave the child with feyre and rhysand when marrying him and she rejects him for that. you can even make him motivated by knowing lucien is a bastard son and not wanting nesta's fatherless child exposed to beron

I'm thinking here, if Feyre died at the end of the first book, her behavior can always be explained by "Came Back Wrong" and not the trauma that is there only when it's conveniently, and then strengthened to the state of the dark AU with a full-fledged horror.

And then add Rhysand's resurrection to it, especially considering the strangeness of remaining being the High Lord.

LOVE feyre coming back wrong, I think we got a slight taste of that in acomaf when they visit the sisters and we get the softest allusion to the body horror and eternal life horror of it and in a better book the sisters stay human and their relationship would build around that way more.

Also imagining rhysand first going, yippee she's more like me :) and then feyre just reveals herself to be endlessly more cruel and oppressive in an actual evil girlboss way (putting the ourobouros selfie here) not this basic ooh he truly sees me bullshit. Yeah he sees her and he's terrified!

Fitting the rhysand resurrection in here, he wanted to give his life to some extent, let's make it also an attempted escape from insane evil feyre, but she needs him as her high lord (she is way more powerful than anyone here, but somewhat unaware and in the world she is building she wants him to be her cool sexy shadow lord) so she helps bring him back and remakes him high lord, trapping him kinda (tamsand potential in both being suicidal and high lords against their will)

The weaver is feyre's role model imo, so are ianthe and amarantha, she's seen the power they wield and feyre is drawn to it but also disgusted by it (much like her suppressed lesbian desires yes yes) anyway feyre and weaver working together to bring back ianthe (feyrankenstein) for eternal punishment at feyre's hands and stryga is proud dom mommy

but also I'm a comedy acotar lover so I think it would be really neat if the dying and being brought back thing worked like the humanity switch thing from vampire diaries but silly so feyre was nice and kind but that flicks off with resurrection and rhysand was evil and comes back suddenly deeply concerned with everyone's wellbeing and the health of sea turtles or smt and then they try to kill and resurrect each other to switch their partner (i also haven't watched tvd maybe i should stop talking about tv shows i don't actually know lmao)

I came in finally reading ACOTAR despite knowing what happens to see what the Tamlin vs Rhysand discourse was about besides the obvious.

Came out sobbing and heartbroken for Tamlin because whatever SJM has him do for the next books, there is no way he deserved all of what will happen to him.

I don’t know if I even want to continue the series even if it’s just for him.

I don’t care if what SJM says is genuine or if she’s just trolling.

Of all the characters that deserve to burn in hell, Tamlin is no saint but he is definitely not one of them.

Yeah he's a tragic character definitely, trying to do the right thing but the narrative always throws it back in his face. I don't think sjm is a competent author especially when it comes to stringing together the plot inbetween books (maybe she's doing better in other series idk).

You see it even better with Nesta imo, bc her and Feyre's relationship is dealt with and healed within the first book but she was set up as the archetype of evil bitch sister and she reverts to filling that narrative role in every new book, no matter what actually happened and should have softened Feyre to her.

With Tamlin the transition between book 1 and 2 kinda works but then he's kind of implied to be a different character off page than he ever is on page. Like he's trying super hard with Feyre in both acomaf and early acowar, but we constantly get implications that he is abusing Lucien in the background but we don't ever actually see him behave like that so it's very ? and then in acowar he's snarky and bitchy then forgiving and chill only to return in acofas jilted and depressed and in acosf apparently continually hung up on Feyre and upset at her pregnancy. sjm just put him in the role of still im love ex to main character and does whatever plot beat would work for that archetype but it often doesn't work for the specific characterisation of Tamlin.

And I don't think she'd ever let him get over Feyre bc then he loses the archetype (she could transition him into villain but she already vaguely tried and fucked that up) plus the self insert fantasy of Feyre requires him to still be in love with her, it would be a hit to her immature ego as a character (and that of overidentifying readers) to imagine an ex getting over and finding happiness beyond you, maybe even having their own valid issues with your behaviour. Only hope is that it's becoming increasingly clear that sjm cares about Rhys way more than Feyre, she's been sidelining her recently while keeping him present. And there is still some unresolved conflict between Rhys and Tamlin, that I'm almost afraid to hope she'll resolve in a mutual growth way.

Anyway my advice would be not seriously engage with the books as much. I do get it can be upsetting to see how Tamlin is treated by the narrative but luckily sjm doesn't own him and isn't the only person writing him. Personally I have fanfictions I enjoy and have created a canon in my mind in which acotar is mainly an office style comedy where rhys and feyre are the Steve Carell boss guy and Tamlin is the Jim character looking at me from the absurdity of the narrative (I haven't watched the office don't trust me) but yeah reframimg the whole thing via tamsand and feyre being a ridiculous comedic figure and pulling the stakes way down makes it fun to engage with for me

Ressina used to date Polina, the dead girl whose house Feyre bought up, lots of angst bc she's still haunted by the death, and yeah Feyre didn't cause it but also grief is illogical

Aranea is over men since her husband died so no she's figuring out she likes women too and it's a mess also bc she's also grieving and maybe she's also upset with Feyre bc she was brought back and Rhys was brought back, why not her husband?

Feyre is extremely guilt laden over the war and destruction and she needs to be comforted but maybe the other two need to express anger or grief? But she can't deal with feeling the guilt and she's their high lady so they have to please her, be happy, be nice and they do love her but how do you love a political persona? Drama
