The MorrĂgan
Celtic goddess of war, fate, the cycle of life and death, rebirth, sovereignty, wisdom, prophecy, destruction, bloodshed, fertility, and fresh waters
The MorrĂgan (also called Morrigu) has her name translate from Irish as âGreat Queenâ. This name is a key to her nature, showing that sovereignty and queenship are core aspects of her identity and power. Though some scholars have given the name an alternate etymology, translating it as âPhantom Queenâ. As one of the Celtic sovereignty Goddesses, The MorrĂgan has an association with the land itself, and the rulership and protection of the land and its people. A recent belief has risen from Wicca claiming that The MorrĂgan is a triple goddess, but this is not so and is inaccurate to her myths. The MorrĂgan has several goddesses who work alongside her, but none represent the stages of oneâs life, and Morrigan only appears elderly when she is presenting herself as a death omen to warriors.
The MorrĂgan is deeply associated in her source lore with incitement of heroes toward glory in battle, with the granting of victory, and with their deaths; in her own words, she says to the great hero CĂş Chulainn, âI am guarding your deathâ. In battle, she takes part in the action primarily through the use of sorcery, Druidic magic, shapeshifting, terrorizing the enemy, and giving aid and strategic information to her people. She shapeshifts into many forms in her tales, including crows, ravens, cows, wolves, and eels. The MorrĂgan also appears as a sexual figure, offering victory and prophetic aid to her chosen war-leader. She also fulfills important roles with regard to poetry and prophecy, giving poetic incitements to the heroes of the Tuatha DĂŠ Danann to rise to their hour of need, giving prophetic pronouncements of victory or of doom on the eve of decisive battles, and announcing the victories and the tales of great deeds afterward. She was also believed to hold the power over life and death, being able to revive fallen warriors in order to allow them to fight again.
The MorrĂgan is part of a group of goddesses who share similar roles: Badb Catha- the Battle Crow of destruction, NĂŠmain- frenzy and terror, and Macha- the land, fertility, protection (it is theorized that FĂŠa was included as well). It is said that The MorrĂgan was so terrifying in battle, that her shrieking war-cries could frighten her enemies to death. Though despite her bloodlust and terror, The MorrĂgan is also deeply protective and strives to teach her followers courage, independence, and enlightenment. She is passionately heroic and never backs down, causing her to seem utterly fearless in any challenge.
In my experiences with this goddess, she is very queen-like, elegant, cunning, sarcastic, and intense. She has a deep strong energy that is also sensual and her warm, shadowy presence embraces everything around her. The MorrĂgan speaks in a low but sometimes commanding voice that can be intimidating to some, but she means well and is immensely wise and compassionate. Though she wishes to guide her followers to their highest potential to show them their strength, she will not hold your hand since she expects independence. Although she can be more gentle depending on what each devotee needs. She is a mysterious and fiery mother who defends all who are in need, though her wrath is not to be taken lightly. Though when at peace, Morrigan enjoys wandering the forests while lost in thought, often wearing a black dress. Appearance-wise, she has come to me in the form of a woman in her early thirties with very long black hair, piercing eyes, pronounced cheekbones, and wears either dark armour or dark clothing with raven feathers attached at her shoulders.Â

Happy Pink Moon Everyone~
Iâve been seeing a lot more crows around me recently. As I was watering my garden, one was perched on the neighbors roof staring at me before flying away. Once I got to the side of the house to water the bushes, the same crow walked along the brick wall in front of me before flying away again. THEN when I was on my walk I kept seeing more crows and one even flew IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD directly in front of me before flying away......yâall what do you think? Iâm curious! Should I be concerned? Whose trying to contact me? Iâm gonna research but Iâd love to hear my fellow witches sound off! Happy Pink Moon/Lesbian Awareness Day, by the way!
some small sigils I feel everyone could need from time to time. take care of yourselves friends!

Hiii! Wow so much to catch you up on!
First of all, I got a second job doing social media for a company brand and thatâs insane cuz itâs what Iâve wanted to do for years and I love it (just got paid too)! Also there might be a man?......a mans! I might be having relations with a man who lives across the country, which is what leads us to these cards. I freaked because heâs a cancer and the middle card is ruled by, you guessed it, CANCER. Also heâs Jewish and he talks about how much he donates and gives to charities and I pull none other than SIX OF PENTACLES which represents generosity and charity!!! I mean cmoonnnn

Got this jar from a Japanese market thatâs shaped like a house. Naturally, with everything going on, I did a protection spell on my whole house. I added sage, rosemary, clear quarts, eucalyptus oil and lavender sprigs/oil, a dried fully preserved rose, cinnamon stick, and a paper with a charged sigil and a written mantra âI AM PROTECTEDâ
Curses vs. Hexes: Whatâs the Difference?
If you were to look up the definition of both of the words on a search engine (hello, Google!) they are defined as follows:
Curse: (aside from meaning vulgar words) is âcasting the evil eye or an evil spell upon someone.â
Hex: to curse someone.
Oh, dear sweet Google, you have tried your best but in this instance, every witch will tell you that you are wrong.
The general consensus is that ultimately, curses are worse than hexes; the target tends to suffer more at the hands of a curse than they do at the hands of a hex.Â
Curses:
Usually more serious than hexes.
Can live on through generations if that is what the caster intended.
Tend to be long-term in nature.
Usually, curses are borne of anger; of hatred and even a need for justice.
They can usually be reversed or undone; reversals can be done by the caster, and undoings may be done by the caster, target or a third party.
Hexes:
Often cast as a âone-offâ piece of magick.
Their effects are apparent very quickly, but they are not long-term - seen sometimes as an instantaneous form of malevolent magick.
Hexes are borne of revenge and/or annoyance, and they usually cause irritation and subsequent annoyance to the target - hexes are a way for the caster make their target feel what they have been made to feel for a short time.
Due to their nature, hexes are usually over and done with quickly and do not require a reversal or undoing.
Both of these forms of magick, are forms of malevolent magick that is used for many reasons.
Some people curse their abusers, or people who have hurt them and some people hex their ex-partners, or someone who has brushed them up the wrong way. Like all magick, what you do is circumstantial and no one can tell you whether you should or should not perform magick of this kind (I am pro-curse and hex, but not everyone is).
Common Cursing & Hexing Components:
Taglocks:
Bodily fluids (blood, spit, semen, menstrual blood, tears, urine, etc.)
Fingernails.
Hair.
Photographs.
Personal possessions.
Poppets.
Usernames/nicknames/names.
Herbs/Plants:
Cayenne Pepper
Chilli
Lemon
Black Pepper
Thistle
Thorns
Poppies
Mold
Other items:
Nails (rusted for potency)
Razor blades
String/yarn/chord
Cemetery Dirt
War Water
Needles
Bones
Vinegar
Mirror (broken or whole)
Broken glass
Dead Wasps
Youâll notice that Iâve bunched the common ingredients for curses and hexes in one list - that is because these two are simply lesser and greater forms of the same kind of magick, so you must bear in mind what your intent is when you choose your spell/ritual ingredients.
Do you want to frustrate, annoy and irritate your target? Do you want to bring them bad luck? Do you want to bring them untold misery? Consider this carefully.
*The word âhexâ is used in modern witchcraft to describe a mild form of baneful magic[k], but if you want to know more about the wordâs history, click here for a fantastic post by @athenathewitch .

As always, use your own judgement regarding your personal ethics and your skill level as a witch, before casting any spells. If anyone has anything else they wish to include, please feel free to add to this list, as it is by no means comprehensive! This is just some of what I was able to gather together for this.
I drew from a lot of sources for these and did my best to make sure they werenât from any closed practices, but if they are and I missed that PLEASE let me know so I can either edit the post appropriately or remove it entirely. The same goes for if a post of yours was linked here and you wish to have it removed!
With that said, Black Lives Matter, and letâs cast some spells for them, witches.Â
đ¤ Spell Jar for Protection đ¤
Ingredients/Equipment
Chilli Flakes (or Chilli Powder, whatever's around) - to ward off unwanted guests
Rosemary - purification, protection
Salt - absorbing negative energy, protection, purification
Black Pepper (both peppercorns and grounded) - banish negativity, protection from evil
3 Bay Leaves - protection from harmful energies
Protection Sigil or a Banish Negativity Sigil
Preferably Black Candle to seal the jar (white may be used as a substitute as I have done)
A Jar
A Funnel (trust me, if you don't use one shit will go everywhere, make and use a homemade paper funnel if you need to)
Spell Method
Cast a protective circle or do your own pre-spell rituals, whatever works for you and light the candle
Cleanse your equipment and ingredients (I use specific ritual incense but again whatever works for you, sage burning, etc)
Put the ingredients in the jar one at a time, repeating a chosen affirmation for protection with each one. The order doesn't nessicarily matter as the intent is what's most important. However, I recommend leaving the bay leaves until last
Use a marker to draw a sigil that represents protection or banishing negativity on at least one of the bay leaves. If you need to break up the leaves to fit them in the jar that's okay; again, the intention is what's most important
Close the jar and seal it with the wax from the candle
