he was accustomed to the very taste of magic that would hang heavy in the air, it’s o t h e r w o r l d l y scent was easy to track, for it was far more potent than a human soul. each magical scent was different, much like the spirit, yet this one was different. it was not like dr. strange’s craft, nor left the metallic aftertaste of wanda’s. doctor voodoo was riddled with decay & bones. this one was lighter, mingled with the strong odor of human, it’s scent had an underlying darkness underneath — a contradiction.
nestled into the darkest depths of the shadows. the king watches on with fascination. her energy pulsed & vibrated. it was like being within an energy field. stretched & pulled by her will. yet the moment her face dissolved in frustration, her shoulders taut, & the air riddled with charcoal and fire —— he stepped into her line of view with a silence that belied his presence.
‘ you are not used to an audience, are you ? ’
❛ on the contrary, ❜ she says softly, a quiet word spoken through bared teeth as she breathes her frustrations. a trickle of perspiration falls from her temple down her cheek and she, in a fit of rage, rubs it away with the back of her left hand and she turns simultaneously - her right arm swings out and fire bursts from her fingertips. it soars across the room and slams in to the opposite wall, an inferno igniting, flames crawling up the wall. standing upright, regina’s jaw clenched as she watched it burn, sure of her inevitable punishment for destroying s.h.i.e.l.d property, waves her hand and watches it disappear. evidently, rage is still her driving force - how unexpected.
aware of her company, regina turned sideways, watching him with thinly veiled distaste - ❛ my audience rarely lives once i am done... ❜ it is the truth, and though she had been forewarned by the director to keep her exploits otherwise a secret, regina could care less. ❛ what do you want, king kitty - i’m busy. ❜
