More than 200 species make their homes at America’s most diverse sanctuary, but construction through the reserve could begin in February

Construction illegally started here last year without the proper paper work. And implied threats.

This wasn’t even eminent domain, because they never seized the land they just started showing up with it still privately owned.

So, I live nowhere near here, but if anyone wants to try to do something I felt I should spread the word.

This should be something supporters of private land ownership and enviornmentalists both agree on.

People have been trying to fight this for months and there’s nothing we can do. It’s possible species will go extinct as a result of this. There’s also a state park they’re destroying.

It will be interesting to see what happens when this tumblr ban on all explicit content kicks in on December 17th.

I’ve often thought that the fact that tumblr is awash with porn would eventually result in some Mrs Lovejoy types leaping up and crying “Won’t somebody think of the children!”, which in turn would make tumblr feel it had to clean up it’s act so to speak. That’s not exactly what’s happened here but it’s close enough.

So bad news for the porn sites but possibly bad news for everyone else as well given tumblr’s previous half-arsed attempts to identify “sensitive” material (it’s OK, I can say arse, written erotica is still permitted). As I’ve said before I’m still finding perfectly innocent old posts of mine which have been marked as sensitive by tumblr’s algorithms, even some of my “Month in Teapots” posts - must be all those rounded edges and priapic spouts.

They say “Illustrations and art that feature nudity are still okay”. You and I probably think movies are art but does tumblr? I don’t personally consider anything I post to be offensive but I do try to give a feel (fnarr) of the films I’m watching and sometimes that means posting “erotic” stuff, nudity, those pesky female-presenting nipples, the occasional penis. Now will those posts, and let’s face it any post whose shapes and colours look sexy to the unthinking robot eyes of tumblr’s algorithms, be “flagged and deleted”?

We’ll see…
