yandere! hero x reader —> inspired by gamma jack (incredibles, the glory days)
type: shitpost [possible intro story] :P
so you guys know about the incredibles dark lore that has been recently trending on TikTok? Specifically gamma jack? (it’s crazy since there are a LOT of headcanons going around about that guy and unfortunately I’m loving it!)
well what if there was a yandere! hero whose personality is similar to gamma jack’s: charismatic, charming, an egotistical playboy, and is notoriously known as the golden boy. Then comes you, the reader, who has known about yandere! hero through stories, newspapers, television, billboards—basically every piece of media you see because that’s just how important this hero was to the city.. hell even the country! When you’re out walking around the streets, you would always hear the faintest whisper of his name like he was a legend, and in a way.. he kinda was.
You also knew him because of your mom, who never failed to remind you of how yandere! hero had saved her from a burning building when she was just a teenager. Yes, that’s right. Yandere! hero existed before your own existence, which meant that you never actually had met the guy before. It was mainly the older/eldery people who validated his existence. He was history, and as how the natural process of history goes, he now exists through the words of witnesses and the media.
His era was known as the golden days (the word “golden” didn’t only signify the “peak historical period of heroes”, but it also signified the yandere! hero, since he was the golden boy himself). He worked alongside 6 other heroes, and together they helped rebuild the city that now chanted their name, his name, for years and years, never stopping even as you walked down the street to get to your job.
You heard the chants, even from people who weren’t born in the golden days. His name, which everytime you heard it made you involuntarily flinch, would always accompany you wherever you went.
You knew him because he was THE hero. Everyone knew him. He was the face of all superheroes, and even years after his death he still haunted the narrative as no modern superhero could be on par with him.
It was a shame to all the citizens and to you that he died in the most unexpected way: the villain had created peculiarly advanced superhero-killing battle robots, each created to target a specific hero’s weakness. The 7 heroes, including yandere! hero, were all defeated and brutally killed.
It was weird though. As you took a sip of your coffee, too bitter for your taste, and scrolled through your instagram feed which held posts of his face—golden hair, perfectly messy and framing his slender features, with a dark eye-mask that circled his bright eyes and was accompanied by a bright smile—a daunting thought soon clouded your mind in unease.
After the sudden, unfortunate and ultimately horrific deaths of the 7 heroes from the golden days, all of their bodies have been collected for a proper burial and memorial.. all bodies except for one.
Your thumb pauses mid-scroll. You feel your eyes narrow down at your screen as it displayed a blinding and unforgettable headline. It would’ve looked like the average clickbait headline if the words didn’t strike you as sinisterly interesting.
IS THE NOTORIOUS GOLDEN BOY REALLY DEAD? THE MYSTERIOUS CASE OF JAMES KENT —> CLICK!
James Kent.. the one superhero that everyone bothers to care about till this day. His body, the only one out of the 7 from the golden days, was missing from the scene.
There was blood. His cape was left on the ground, ripped and battered from the vicious robot whose eyes gleamed red. The robot was still alive until other heroes—who were irrelevant and still are, since nobody could recall their names—had managed to shut it down. It was all thanks to the villain actually, since he was the one who controlled it and knew how to make it self-destruct. The villain had one goal: to end the age of superheroes: to end James Kent.
But where was James Kent?
Was he really dead, like everyone believed him to be?
The question was never meant to be answered, however it seemed like fate had a soft liking towards you and your curiosity as you happened to stumble upon an old and rusted watch. The surface of the watch was green; however, it still showcased the time with the second hand ticking away. It was an odd-looking object, nevertheless, especially since there was a suspiciously noticeable knob at the side that invited you to turn it clockwise.
Fate, the clock, or whoever wished on your downfall, had succeeded in making you even more miserable as you somehow traveled back in time to the era before you were born. The era in which you only had heard about through bedtime stories and the fanatic superhero fans that can’t seem to let go of the past.
As you stood inside an alleyway, cautiously walking forward to see the world—the past that died a long time ago—you saw what the legends had warned you about, what your mother had talked about when she was reminiscing her childhood days.
A blast from the past, oh how you hated and relished that saying now. It took you hours to wonder about the area, sensing the air of the city to be ancient, mysterious and familiar. Everything was dull. Your surroundings were gray, the sky was gray just as the clouds were, and the mindless yet sophisticated passersby held an air of boredom and elegance.
Everything looked so proper and utterly depressing. Though, it all contrasted with the being that stood in the middle of the street where reporters and excited journalists were surrounding around. You didn’t know how you failed to hear it before, but the incessant sound of clicks! and chatter filled your ears as you got nearer towards the crowd.
You didn’t need to take another step, since the being that stood in the middle held color that was distinct from the rest of the gray people. The first thing you noticed was a cape—orange, almost passing as a dark yellow, flowing around the male’s back in a dramatically soothing manner. His back was turned to you, yet the mass of golden hair that somehow gleamed in the gray atmosphere stumped you before you could fully grasp his features.
Not only were you living in the past, but you were back to the time where yandere! hero was alive. The man who you could never meet since he was history, and the infamous playboy who had multiple scandals yet remained a role model for all.
You were standing at a specific time period before he was (assumingely) killed. You didn’t understand it now, but you would soon realize that the weight of his mysterious death/disappearance was transferred to you.
You were staring at him, gawking mostly, while he was in his own world and living his prestige life.
Well, shit. I should get out of here.. but should I get an autograph real quick?
this is heavily unedited so this definitely sucks.. but yknow how your mind suddenly starts to have an idea of a story?? that’s exactly how my mind is rn, so maybe this is like an intro to a yandere story i’m interested in making.. lmk how ya’ll think!
