My English Journey with Nijisanji

My journey started with NIJISANJI’s "Lotion Curling" (Yes, that legendary stream!). Since then, I’ve been a fan of Hayato Kagami and Kanae. I used to occasionally check out ROF-MAO and ChroNoiR.

But then... I finally encountered Prof. Oliver Evans. Thanks to him, I started watching collaborations with NIJISANJI EN, and that’s how I met Vantacrow, Petra, Ike, and so many others. Seeing their international interactions was so "Emo" (deeply moving) to me.

Now, I’m watching various EN livers every day because I want to understand English better.

One thing I have to say: finding out that "tskr" (tasukaru) works perfectly in English too is the BEST thing ever. Seriously, TSKR.

Sewing is both my profession and my hobby. I want to create "Concept Art" using my handmade skills during my free time. That’s why I started this Tumblr.

1. Wen Akagi Introduction (General)

Wen Akagi has been winning over his seniors' hearts through their stomachs with his "Karaage" (Japanese-style fried chicken) ever since his debut. "Winning someone's heart through their stomach" is a Japanese metaphor meaning to make someone feel like they can't live without your cooking. That’s why all the Nijisanji members absolutely love Wen's Karaage. While his streams mostly feature gaming, he's often collaborating with someone. Also, he is an unparalleled lover of alcohol and is always drinking during his streams. However, he often speaks and acts in a way that makes it impossible to tell whether he's actually drunk or not.

2. "Gyal-wolf" Duo (Wen & Rou)

"Gyal-wolf" (Gya-urufu) is a fan-favorite duo consisting of Wen Akagi and Rou Koyanagi. The name comes from Wen's "gyal" personality and Rou's "wolf" persona. Their dynamic is chaotic yet adorable! In this clip, Rou acts as the "Intonation Police," constantly correcting Wen's hilarious pronunciation and his "spinal cord talking" (talking before thinking).

Even native Japanese speakers find Wen Akagi's Japanese difficult to understand at times. Not all Japanese people can read every single kanji, but among the members of MECYATU-A, the one who struggles with kanji the most is definitely Kagetsu Murakumo.

Let me introduce Itsetsu Saiki from Oriens. He is the absolute hero of the group—and quite frankly, he’s a "A deep-voiced otaku who’s super talented but... very 'unhinged'.

I highly recommend checking out his cover of "Laugh Maker" in the link below. His emotional expression is so rich and powerful. I’ve listened to this cover many times, and whether I’m feeling energetic or down, his voice gently stays by my side and supports my heart.

He absolutely loves streaming and has a deep affection for his fellow "Heroes" (the unit with Lito Usami) and all the Oriens members. He has a certain "adorable youngest sibling" vibe and is very well-loved by his seniors in Nijisanji as well.

His streams are full of variety, but if I had to describe him in one phrase, it’s that he is a "Merlion of Memes". Honestly, most of the time, he makes no sense lol. Many of his meme roots come from 2channel (the Japanese equivalent of Reddit), so if you want to dive deep into the darker corners of Japanese subculture, his talks are perfect for you. However, I wouldn't really recommend listening to him if you're trying to learn "standard" Japanese!

On the other hand, he loves The Beatles (which he affectionately calls "Kabutomushi") and musicals. His range of acting and singing is impressively wide.

Just a heads-up: he is a heavy smoker. Sometimes you can even hear him smoking during his streams, which sounds almost like ASMR.

This is something only advanced Lito Usami fans would understand.

Please take a close look at the comment section. You can really feel the "pro-wrestling" vibe (playful banter) between Lito and his listeners. Personally, I’ve rewatched this so many times while reading the comments, thinking "I feel like my life is in danger!" lol. Also, a quick heads-up: if you have trypanophobia (fear of needles/pointed objects), you might want to skip this one...

Let me introduce Lito Usami from NIJISANJI JP's unit, Oriens.

He’s a hero and a gym trainer who’s tall and has impressive physical abilities, and he’ll always give you detailed advice if you ask about muscle training. He is polite and has a rich artistic sensibility, as he loves things like musicals.

However, he laughs a lot—like a chicken. Japanese fans call his laughter 'chicken-like' and find it nourishing for the soul. Interestingly, he mostly cracks up at relatively low-brow dirty jokes or just plain silly things.

Lito’s streams focus on interacting with viewers and enjoying the vibe of the moment.

When the four Oriens members play together, they’re as energetic as a group of teenagers, but you can also catch glimpses of his serious side when he collabs with other units or senior Livers.
