No such thing as negative Publicity

On Thursday evening unbeknownst to me a blog on a popular social media site Tumblr was posted. This blog was less than flattering and directed towards me and my business ManCans.   I am the first person to say everyone is entitled to their opinion but I am posting today to thank everyone who came to mine and my business’ defense.   I was very flattered to see the number of posts that pointed out the good that my company has done over the past four years coming from strangers not only across the country but from around the world.

I am not sure who posted the original blog because they took it down before I was able to look at it but I would like to thank them for directing attention to my business. Since Thursday evening we have taken 135 orders for 391 candles.  These orders generate enough in financial donation to provide over 1100 meals.

If I knew who you were and your address I would send you the SheCan Be Awesome candle.

ATTENTION EVERYONE CONVINCED THAT HART MAIN, 17, OWNER OF MAN CANS IS AGAINST WOMEN AND A MYSOGINIST: Hart is a normal 17 year old who has many friends girls and boys. I’m his sister who was selling the candles he called girly scents. He wasn’t against the scents because they were GIRLY. He just thought men would enjoy something a little more masculine too. At 13 Hart had the bravery and intelligence to start his own business basically on his own. He came up with the idea of the soup can. HE came up with the idea of buying and donating the soup to shelters and people in need. It could’ve been much easier to just buy empty cans. But he didn’t. SHE CANS.SHE CANS. SHE CANS. He started the line she cans in order to please women. but the point was to EMPOWER WOMEN. with scents like SHE CAN BE BEAUTIFUL, SHE CAN BE UNSTOPPABLE, SHE CAN BE FEARLESS. IF THATS NOT PRO WOMEN IDK WHAT IS. He has nothing against women. If you have any questions just message me for Pete’s sake. Just stop the silly posts.

Please just leave this kid alone - he’s doing his best. He recognised that the market itself wasn’t appealing to most men. It’s not even as if he had a problem with candles as they’re marketed, he thought to broaden the market. 

Whether you agree with that or not this is literally a 17 year old kid who also has a line to empower women and is donating to help those in need. This is fabulous and should be celebrated. This young man is helping people and if your protest is that these product are unnecessarily gendered, be that so, it is not his fault and his alone. 

This young man is using his talents for good, please respect that.

Thank you to everyone who is supporting Hart and Man Cans. Our family was a taken by surprise when we first saw the original post. Hart is a wonderful 17 year old boy, a wonderful brother …even tho he gets on my nerves sometimes but hey it’s okay. I’m incredibly proud of him for his achievements. I think it is a great thing to have provided over 80,000 meals to people in need by the time you’re 17. Thanks for reblogging my last post. Keep spreading the real story, how he isn’t a mysoginist. :)
