I'm doing it! I'm starting a tournament to determine the correct order in which to eat M&Ms.

Based on your preliminary research, the ultimate answer will upset everyone. Let's find out together.

How this will work:

The colors in a standard bag of M&Ms (in alphabetical order) are:

Blue

Brown

Green

Orange

Red

Yellow

Starting Sunday 6/8/25, each day I will ask The People about the preferred position of a different color; the polls will last one week. Starting 6/15/25, I'm going to do the same in reverse, each day asking The People the preferred color for each position. I will compile the results and update with the schedule of the inevitable runoff.

Asks are open. Propaganda is welcome. Don't be an asshole; it's all in good fun.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have tallied the results!

Here is my methodology:

Using this super-scientific chart

I marked the winner of each poll in the correct box. If there was a tied, I ticked both boxes.

So as you see, Brown could be first or last, and first could go to Brown or Red, but Brown going first got two ticks.

Likewise down the line. Orange could be second or third, and second could be Orange or Red. Yellow could be third or fifth, third could be Orange, Yellow, or Green. Green could be third, fourth, or fifth, and fifth could be Yellow or Green. Blue could be fourth or last, and last could be Brown or Green.

Red is where is gets weird.

Red, according to the polls, could be eaten first, but Brown won. Red could be eaten second, but Orange won.

Fourth place could have gone to Green, but Green slotted neatly into fifth. Fourth also could have gone to Blue, but Blue was clearly meant to go last.

So even though none of the polls declared that Red should be eaten fourth, when all other colors are accounted for, it's the only spot left.

With that said, the official order in which M&Ms should be eaten is:

Brown

Orange

Yellow

Red

Green

Blue

Now, this is actually my preferred order, so while I'm thrilled, I'm also wary of my own biases. So if an neutral party wants to check my work, I welcome it!
