STRANGER THINGS 4 Chapter Nine: The Piggyback

Joyce and Jim had agreed to tell the kids about this new thing between them, but only after they’d all reunited. Once they’d all had a chance to breathe.

But then he kissed her, without thinking about where they were or who might be watching.

Somehow the two of them holding hands hadn’t raised any eyebrows, but it was hard to ignore a kiss, especially when Jim's lips lingered at the corner of her mouth and Joyce’s fingers twined into the fabric of his shirt to keep him close.

“Whoa.” Nancy’s hushed tone cut through the silence following their slip up.

“How long has this been going on?” Of course they’d have to do this in front of half the Wheeler clan.

“Is that why you two went hiking together last year?” Will stared at his mom, eyes wide.

“Hiking?”

"Why didn’t you tell us?" Jonathan looked bemused, but not upset, and El was practically glowing.

"We weren't hiking-"

“Well we did do some hiking…"

"Ew!"

"Hiking is not code for anything!"

But no one was listening, all of them wholly uninterested in the fact that this was new. And since no one seemed to mind, Jim kissed her again.
