I still cannot get over how it’s heavily implied in the REIGEN manga that Reigen used part of Serizawa’s suit to mark the route out of the cursed forest in order to save Tome and her not-boyfriend Hoshida. When I first noticed it, I thought that Reigen had torn up Serizawa’s suit jacket in order to leave the marker behind, but upon further analysis, I believe he used Serizawa’s tie. It’s certainly less dramatic than using Serizawa’s whole suit jacket, but still very much a Reigen thing to do, especially since he didn’t sacrifice his own tie but also didn’t ruin Serizawa’s whole outfit to save them.
Here’s Serizawa and Reigen right before they run into the forest to rescue T&H:
I initially thought that Reigen must’ve used Serizawa’s suit jacket because the very next time we see him, Serizawa is no longer wearing it:
Serizawa is also no longer wearing his tie:
Meanwhile, Reigen still has his suit jacket (and tie) on, but he clearly had to have had some kind of spare fabric to make a marker to tie to the tree:
However, later, Serizawa is holding a suit jacket in his hands, and it’s clearly not Reigen’s, because Reigen is still wearing his full suit. However, Serizawa is still tie-less:

Serizawa is tie-less but still has his suit jacket, while Reigen is still fully-suited.
Conclusion: the marker on the tree was made out of Serizawa’s tie. And now I soooo badly want to know how this went down. Did Reigen ask for the tie, or did Serizawa offer it? Whose idea was it? What was the thought process here? Did Serizawa untie the tie himself or did Reigen? It’s so inconsequential but I’m still here at 2 am thinking about the intricacies of this small throwaway detail in an old manga chapter because I NEED TO KNOW.
