“I’m done fighting it, I am obsessed with stories (beside my many other obsessions), be it books, movies, series, anime, video-games, mythology .. Stories in all their forms educate you, teach you a lot of things about a lot of things, expand your imagination and knowledge, enhance your sense of empathy, impact your way of thinking and processing & your personality even, forge your character, challenge your opinions, keep your mind open & your soul young, motivate you, inspire you, take you in a journey through time and space. I might have a fairly logical mind of a grown up but I definitely have a spirit of a child. It’s not hard at all for my brain to envision someone’s words, breath life into a text and make it a film inside my head (it’s actually the mechanism I use to memorize & understand my lessons since I was a kid), without forgetting that stories are a great distraction & incredibly entertaining. But aside from all the obvious benefits, life is simply too boring for my taste & as R.R. Martin puts it:
"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies .The man who never reads lives only one.”
You don’t only watch the characters grow, you become them, feel what they feel, learn from their mistakes, understand the morals of their stories, cry with them, laugh with them, embark on their adventures, & you carry a piece of each one of them within you for ever .. And what’s one life compared to a thousands! If you don’t see the temptation then I’m sorry for you.. truly. I am sorry that you’ll only live once, I am sorry that your mind is so rigid & dull, I am sorry your thoughts are boring and your idea of a conversation is small talk, I am sorry that your knowledge is limited, I am sorry that you’ll remain untouched in your own safe closed little world unable to travel an infinite number of realms, I am sorry you can’t experience the only form of magic humanity is capable of. I am truly sorry for you & I never wish to be you “
