ONE OK ROCK: OUR FAVOURITE JAPANESE ROCKERS
If you were at Soundwave Festival way back at the beginning of the year, you might have had a chance to check out Japanese rockers One OK Rock tearing up the stage during one of their killer high-energy performances.
The guys have recently revealed some new official videos for tracks from the English deluxe edition of their record 35xxxv which drops this Friday. Check them out below, and make sure you snag a copy of the record!
In a recent interview with AbsolutePunk.net, frontman Taki Moriuchi revealed his excitement at releasing the English version of 35xxxv: AbsolutePunk.net: Your album 35xxxv is being re-released in late-September through Warner Brothers. It’s your first album sung entirely in English. How excited are you to release it here [USA]? “Really excited! When I recorded this version here in the United States, it was a little confusing, because translating Japanese to English is difficult. It was the first time I’ve had to change my music after it was already written. Changing Japanese melodies to ones in English was hard. I learned a lot from the experience.”
Here’s hoping that One OK Rock bring their amazing live show back to Australia in 2016!

Predators With Excellent Music Tastes!
There’s been a whole heap of shark related stories in the press recently, namely the incredible footage of Australian Mick Fanning narrowly escaping what could have been a fatal attack during a surf competition.
Bad shark!
But let us not stereotype the whole shark community, that’s horrifically unfair. Instead let us praise the shark world for their seemingly impeccable taste for all things heavy and metal (not the shark cage).
While filming a shark special for the Discovery Channel, scientists used death metal from the Darkest Hour to lure the sea creature to their boat.
Apparently the “the dense tones of heavy metal simulate the low frequencies of struggling fish”...so the music kind of sounds like dinner.
Serial Killer Barbie
When you think Barbie, you think a sweet doll who loves pink and Ken (you’re also probably thinking What The F*** is this doing on Maniacs!). Well...Think again!
Canadian artist Mariel Clayton was inspired by here understandable hatred of the doll to create this morbid project named “Dolls”.
“I think it finally makes the doll interesting, and I like that contrast between saccharine sweet and pure malevolence”
The series portrays Barbie in miniature play sets, with brutalized Ken dolls featured in each one. The photos are chilling and bloody yet tinged with a dark humor that Maniacs can appreciate!
Corey Taylor Joins Halestorm Onstage To Cover Of Temple Of The Dog’s 'Hunger Strike'!
Slipknot & Stone Sour front man Corey Taylor joined Halestorm on stage at the Alternative Press Music Awards for an incredible rendition of Temple Of The Dog’s ‘Hunger Strike’.
Check out the footage below!
Periphery Guitarist Covers Destiny Boss Theme Song!
Periphery’s own Misha Mansoor is no strangers to video games, in fact Mansoor has been tipped to write music for the new Halo 2 re release alongside virtuoso guitarist Steve Vai.
In for what might be preparation for the afformentioned project, Mansoor has been working on his video game music chops with a cover of legendary PS4 game Destiny’s ‘Boss Song’.
Iron Maiden’s New Brew!
Stronger Trooper 666 celebrates original beer passing 10-million-pint mark!
The new beer, aptly named 666 will be a much stronger version than the pre-existing beverage and guess what the ABV will be? That’s right... 6.6%
Dickinson says: “Our fans have been asking for a stronger brew, and it seemed only right to do this at 6.6%.”
But he continues: “Despite the links with our song The Number Of The Beast, the name has come about as a result of some research by historian Terry Brighton. He’s shown there were 666 soldiers who rode in the Charge of the Light Brigade during the Battle of Balaclava in 1854 – and not just the 600 of Tennyson’s famous poem.”
Brewery boss John Robinson says: “Trooper 666 is the same award-winning recipe, but brewed to a higher gravity. The result is another wonderfully authentic beer that’s packed with malt, but slightly sweeter than the original.”
We were sold at beer, sod the history! The new brew will be available from October 1st and believe it or not you can pre-order the stuff right here!
On a more musical note Iron Maiden are gearing up to release ‘The Book Of Souls’ in September this year...
Don’t try this at home kids
We can all agree that the flame throwing guitar from Mad Max: Fury Road was the film’s highlight. Now you don’t have to just pretend with lesser than objects and sound effects made by your mouth!
Make Magazine Youtuber, Caleb decided to share his wisdom with us all by instructing us on how to build a flame thrower Ukulele. Granted, its not as cool as a guitar but we’ll take it!
Check out the video below and pay close attention to the safety tips such as “keep a working fire extinguisher within arm’s reach”. Solid advice to follow!
What a catch!
Check out this video of David Achter de Molen from dutch hard core punk band John Coffey catching and downing this beer mid crowd surf at PinkPop Festival in the Netherlands.
The beer was thrown by fan Van Dem Ham, who even got offered free tickets to their next gig in thanks for the tasty beverage.
Disturbed... ‘Immortalized’ The Making Of!
It’s been a long, long 4 years since Disturbed’s last album ‘Asylum’ but thankfully come August 21 the Grammy Award-nominated band will return with their sixth studio album ‘Immortalized’.
Thankfully for us, the making of ‘Immortalized’ has been immortalized in the modern art form of film...
"The idea was to leave when we were at our peak, which we were, and to come back when we felt reinvigorated," said Draiman. "Everything was strategic. We wanted to give ourselves a chance to breathe, give the fans a chance to breathe, and give the culture a chance to evolve. Now is the time. The environment feels ready. The musical landscape feels ready. We're ready."
They’re ready, we’re ready are YOU ready? ‘
Immortalized’ is available for pre-order here!
