I want to lift up #womenOfColor this #internationalWomensDay, particularly black women, who have given so much to the world, and are often not recognized for their brilliance. Here's a fun gallery of badass women of color from #btf2017. ♡

No filter needed on this group of gorgeous, diverse set of women. I feel deeply grateful that I get to be a part of this experience, to create this space. #BTF17 (at Christ Church Neighborhood House)
Breaking the world's intensity with photos from our HP-full last hours before the election on Nov 8th. This was probably the best possible scenario, one last day of fun, sunshine, and magic before the fall.
Introducing Female Anger
Ever wonder what happens to the rage women swallow every day? Meet Female Anger!
This weekend was one of the best in my life, and I am so deeply appreciative of everyone who was a part of it. This pic illustrates all my feels- the training I was at was full of beautiful (inside and out) people of all different backgrounds, skin colors, interests, ages, perspectives, and life experiences. Everyone was committed to doing what's necessary to fix our broken systems and empowering people. No judgement, all love, respect, and honor. I am so excited to continue this work with all of you! (at The Watershed Center)
Things I learned in September
Day #2
Today Michaela, La Tierra and I took a ride up to NYC, to the gorgeous Watershed Center. We’re here for a convening The Working World put together around non-extractive finance. Though I agreed to go to this convening weeks ago, I finally know what we mean by non-extractive finance. This whole weekend is learning about it— a new model of finance that connects cooperatives to regional lending groups, and those lending groups to a peer network of other cooperatively-minded folks, all working together to ensure community-driven, equitable funding to the people who need it. YES PLEASE.
BONUS LEARNING:
Because we spent most of the day today in a yurt: A traditional yurt (from the Turkic languages) or ger (Mongolian) is a portable, round tent covered with skins or felt and used as a dwelling by nomads in the steppes of Central Asia. COOL.
This month, inspired by Chris Wink, I’m writing about things I’ve learned, every single day for September. I’m hoping this works to keep me writing (even a little bit), to motivate me to explore (there’s always something I didn’t notice before), and to slow me down, because that’s something I need to do. I’ll also try to take an engaging picture to accompany each day. Here goes!
#1 - Today I went to the Philadelphia Pennsylvania Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. It’s open to the public for tours until September 9th, and I was really interested in seeing the inside, as this gorgeous building has been in construction for so long. I learned about its labyrinth of rooms, each with their own purpose. Something I didn’t know was how much Mormons are REALLY into family. Forever. We got to sit in one of the Sealing Rooms, which is here couples are “sealed” together in marriage.
Though I might not agree on a lot of fronts, there is so much to be said for the amount of reflection and consideration is clearly integral to the faith. We could all use more of that.
I went to see the #truthtopower exhibit and my brain and heart is still processing. You'll see me post over the next several weeks as I internalize these commentaries on our country and how I can contribute to solutions, because #BlackLivesMatter. Who is doing work to make sure Philly's police force is/stays accountable? I want to help.

Two years ago I bought a fabulous pair of shoes at Firefly Music Festival (of all places) from @teysha_is - they have been my favorite pair of shoes since then. They're detailed, sturdy, and comfy. So, two years later, I went to Firefly again and bought another pair to match my wedding colors. These gorgeous shoes are the fine craftsmanship of a social enterprise that empowers communities of artisans and weavers back in Guatemala. I love them, and if you're on the market for a really great pair of unique shoes, go get 'em!
My favorite video I ever worked on
The tale of Mo Manklang and Brendan Kingston... so far.
Been thinking about amazing people we've lost a lot these last few days. This last week has been particularly hard for so many reasons and for so many people. I love this quote, it helps me to remember that the best way to keep them close is to keep the best of them around in our own lives- the bravery, the refusal to accept the status quo, the commitment, the kindness, the creativity, and especially the love. That's how Rodney won't ever really be gone, that's how your loved ones won't ever really be gone, and that's how David Bowie won't ever really be gone. ♡
Just experienced a phenomenal tour at Eastern State with Chris, a former inmate, who told us about the history of the prison while also giving insight on how the prison system works today. So powerful. (at Eastern State Penitentiary)

September has been an incredibly happy month for me, and today I took a moment to step back and breath in the good feelings. It's not always easy to be happy and to truly appreciate those moments. I found this today and thought it was apropos.
Savoring life requires slowing down and appreciating what you can when you can. Especially living in the city, I find myself often caught up in the doing of things. I'm learning to slow down when I can to love this great life I've been given.

As soon as police used teargas on protesters in the U.S. suburb Ferguson, Palestinians on Twitter responded with advice on how to deal with it.
It breaks my heart that it's necessary in this world for people to share tips on how to deal with tear gas. This is not the world that should be.
