Never knew i needed long haired Nanoka in my life
May 10th is Maid Day in Japan, so hereās Nanoka disguised as one!
One of my favourite little things about the manga is Nanokaās many outfit changes! While sheās often seen in uniform, she does dress for an occasion when able (hiking gear for the mountains etc.), wearing Taisho-era arrangements for sleuthing purposes, changing into yukata or kimono when her clothes are damaged, and so on.
We get to see her in a plethora of cute outfits on various splash pages as well, from retro fashion to modern looks! Often paired with Mao wearing matching colours to boot ^^
This is something I hope to see reflected in the anime⦠one day!
6th MAO's Anniversary
Six years ago the first chapter of MAO was published in Shonen Sunday Magazine and throughout this time, we've met characters with interesting background stories that have made them decide which side to support.
This month, we'd love to read from you which of these stories captivated you. Use the hashtag #maoAnniversary and #maoweek to share with us your drawings, edits or thoughts about your favorite characters of MAO.
Thank for all the support to MAO manga and Takahashi Sensei.
See you soon!

Hello everyone!!
As we mentioned before, for Mao Week this time, weāre holding a contest! And for this contest, the idea is to pick one of these two manga panels to color!
You can submit your entries by posting your submission and tagging it #maoweekcontest - this is very important, because otherwise we wonāt be able to find it and count it!!! Submissions will be counted until Thursday May 7th, so if you want to participate make sure weāve found your entry by then!
Voting will be counted in the number of likes on each manga coloring, and youāll have Friday and Saturday to go through all the submissions and cast your final likes before the winner is announced on Sunday May 10th.
And donāt forget, the prize for the winner is an artwork of any Mao character of your choice, done by me, co-mod @artistefish!!
These are your panel choices creators, so on your marks, get set, GO!!
UPDATE:
Weāre doing the contest again for the week of the 8th - 13th
The same rules apply, though the dates are adjusted
Submissions are accepted through Thursday June 11th, voting will be counted on Friday and Saturday, and the winner will be announced on Sunday, June 13th!
Have Fun!!
Hi everyone!!!
We have another Mao chapter hiatus this week, so itās time for some Mao-Week celebrating!
Instead of doing a daily prompt this time, weāre going to do a second round of the contest from last time. It got a little lost in the announcement about the Inuyasha Sequel, so hereās another shot for those interested!
More info in the next post!
This is my submission about Day 6 of Mao Week. This time is a fanart of Kamon. Hope you like it.
For a late, late Mao Week Day 6, itās Kamon~
I enjoy analyzing morally grey characters like this guy. Heās taken on a sort of āenemy of my enemyā role and joined up with Mao for the time being, but how long will that last? Itās a fun guessing game.
Iām actually not as happy with this piece as Iād like - Ikemen are hard to draw!! Side profiles are hard to draw!!! Why did I do this to myselfā¦.
My submission for Day 7 and Day 3 of Mao Week: Sana and Nanoka. Sincerely, I love this two beautiful girls!
Hope you like it.
I love Tenko soooo much! Sheās so pretty and nice, but isnāt afraid to omnom somebody when attacked, making her really cool too!!
I really hope she and Nanoka get to spend some more time together - growing up without a mother, Iām sure our heroine could use a cool big sis in her life especially for advice on all the dokidokis Maoās been giving her lately ^///^
We havenāt seen Tenko in color yet (as far as I know), so I had guess her colors. Regarding the fluff around her neck⦠it seems she can use leaves and the like to create offshoots of herself to a degree (as seen when she sent an SOS to Mao and co.), so I thought itād be cute if she made use of one as a fashionable muffler in the winter~
This is of course, a late Mao Week Day 5 entry.
