FFXIV Write: Day 3: Scale

Kaede sits in a warm bathtub. The days in Shirogane are slowly growing colder. The silence in the house deepening with it. It's not all bad though. Sometimes Sahji'to comes to give her sweets and romance novels. It makes her happy and shy enough to sink into the tub a bit more, as if he'd see her happy blush from across the sea. She adores him but more and more she's starting to wonder if she's getting a small crush on him. He's very kind, but troubled by many other things as well. Would he even ever like her that way. She blinks a few times with that thought. Sighing out and poking at her smooth, sharp, scales under the water, before submerging completely.

She doesn't remember it, but she knows she's from Sui no Sato. Nearby and under the ocean waves of the Ruby Sea. A fear of the ocean keeps her from ever visiting her parents who lost her to bullies pushing her into a stormy sea all those years ago. Still, she's glad to be able to sit under the clean water for a time to gather her thoughts without needing to come up for air.

She pokes at a scale on her face. If they did become a couple. Wouldn't be hard to him to kiss her cheeks with her scales? She isn't that great a person either. Shy. Prone to stuttering. Overall an anxious mess that's more mousey than dragon like, as those back in Ishgard would posit about her looks. She frowns then. Best not to dwell too long on the family that raised her there and had her work as a maid and chirugeon versed in conjury. Not that they were ever awful to her, she just never fit in there. Always to short to get everything required of her with the shelves set for Hyur and Elezen. Always being watched in case she was indeed draconic. Sahji'to doesn't seem to mind her looks all that much. And that brings a smile back to her face as she surfaces from the water to towel off.

She's not sure if her adoration is just that from their friendship or a crush. She figures either way it's best she says nothing of it. In case she makes things awkward and makes him uncomfortable. She doesn't want to lose a friend so dear to her after all. That thought sends a pang into her heart. She'd be mostly all alone again then. Only the occasional visits from her older sister and Uulii in this quiet house that makes her feel like a ghost.
