My favourite RanRei headcanon is that whenever Ranmaru feels upset or down, he'll bury his face onto whatever part of Reiji he can reach at that moment (like burying his face in his hair, his sides, etc) and Reiji will sit there with him, rambling on about this and that until Ranmaru responds to his words with little grunts of acknowledgement, then he'll gently ask Ranmaru what's on his mind.

Also it works the other way where Ranmaru just knows when Reiji's smile is a little too stiff, too fake (when he's not having the greatest day) and he'll pull Reiji to his chest, telling him that he can just let it all out and that Ranmaru will listen to whatever he wants to rant about.
