Frozen memories
Without a doubt one of my favourite photos... showing an old friend around the coastline I grew up on & teaching him a bit about long exposure as we drove past my long familiar sights. The blue hour snuck up on us as we stood on the shore & a crab fisherman was checking out his trap out on the old pier. Moments. Memories.
A moment becomes a memory as time keeps flying forward Been awhile Tumblr. How's things? Is this thing even on?
A time when dreams took flight
Back for a little Switzerland winter adventures
Missoula when it snows
When I woke up in Whitefish MT
Amsterdam. At the cusp of covid’s arrival. We didn’t know it would be such a goodbye.
Mood.
Somber silence.
Somber sadness.
Homeward bound. To the coastline of my youth. Where the ocean and rainforest meet.
A land of water.
As my thoughts return to the coastline I grew up upon
I was noticing the fall colours the other day on a drive and thinking about their fleeting beauty.
And how in our lifetime we’ll likely only get to experience a set amount that’s probably in the 70-90 range.
I’m 41. How would I look at these leaves changing colour if I kept aware to the fact that I might only see it 40 more times?
Perspective is powerful.
Of course we don’t know, so we push it out of mind and don’t consider it. This troublesome mortality.
What if instead we picked a number far enough out to not panic, but close enough to not become complacent… find your number. And it’ll change with time.
But let’s live as if this life is a fleeting gift that we get to experience ourselves, share with others, and leave as a legacy to those who will follow.
My number currently is 10.
What’s yours?
Looking outside my AirBNB right now
Montana. A pretty place to drive
And sometimes, when I let it, a feeling of great sorrow comes over me
When you go Lake Louise in Banff National Park, Canada, and run into an alpenhornista..
alpenhorner?
alpenhorny?
You’ll grow when no one is watching.
And when they are.
Try not to worry about.
It won’t change a thing.
You’ll still grow to be what you are to become.
