In ten years, what happens? Does my book no longer sit on the contemporary fiction shelf? If a contemporary fiction writer is trying to capture the attitude, the constitution even, of the moment, then as soon as the moment passes, by it’s very definition, the work no longer becomes contemporary. Every writer ever has been contemporary in their very moment, and then, once that moment has passed, they are back to just being a writer. So when I hear contemporary writer, contemporary literature, contemporary fiction, I hear a useless adjective. What kind of writer are you? A contemporary writer. What kind of writer are you? "Handcrafted Valentines"

Some words stick out from things that stick out that people see and then tell you about. This is one of those instances, felt as a large, general emotion which is then channeled into a song idea. Handcrafted, if you will.

"Second time through" demo with the roomies in-laws in town so screaming at my computer seems a bit... fucking dumb. Will proceed to yell at computer microphone during chorus and use "big boy voice" next time around.
