In this photo I was inspired by the “liquid” task on the scavenger hunt. I thought of different options I could choose. I thought this one was a nice photo to use because it shows the flow of the water. I was in an alley way when I took this photo and it was draining from a building.

These photos relate because of the angle they are taken at. They both have a wall and or wall look to the sides of the photos. They both seem to lead the same way and connect with their leading lines.

In this set of photos the filters add a difference to the normal photo, I feel as though the filters enhance the photo such as the leading lines of the path standing out more. I think the second filter is the best one because the filter is black and white, and with the frame around it makes it look more historic.

In this set of photos, the blur makes the picture focus on the girl. She is the only clear subject in the picture and enhances it by focusing on details like the bright, plaid, blue umbrella. As seen in the first blur photo, it centers in on the girl with a twisting motion. The winding motion adds a haze to the photo which makes it look unrealistic and interesting.

In this set of photos the girl is focused on in many ways. The first filter gives the young teenage girl an older look, but enhances her eyes and makes them sharper. In the other two her whole face is the main subject, such as her face being lightened and the darker tone on the outer edges centering in on her face.

The blur on this set of photos makes the focus center on the girl. The blur makes her face standout and look like it is swirling in on her face. It enhances it because blurring the background creates more attention on her rather than trying to look next to her. I think that this also creates an illusion like she is in a dream.

In this photo of a young teenage girl holding a branch, she looks like she is happy or optimistic. Her eyes are wide, and we can see that she is slightly forming a smile behind the branch. Her eyebrows are also straight, and not very arched. Her head is also up, and looking forward.

The teenage girl seems to be scared and worried. This is because her head is tilted down slightly and her eyebrows look stressed. She looks like she is hiding from someone or something and is slowly revealing herself from out of the curtain. The girl looks like she is about to be lectured by an adult because she is looking up.

I find these set of photos unique because they tell a interesting story. In the photos the emotions of the people are very impactful, and strong. I find them inspiring because they depict older scenes and they are very detailed, like where the people sit, what they wear, and what their facial expressions tell us. With my photos I intend to create a different character, and make my model’s clothes look rough and make her look poor.

Dorothea Lange 1895-1965

Dorothea Lange was a famous photographer who was a polio survivor in her childhood years. Although this challenged her, she continued to travel to places like Asia, South America, Europe and the middle east.

In this photo there is a rake that is laying on a branch. The color of the rake is a old and or rustic red. The red is almost fading and we can see that it is worn and used. The lines of the rake are curved down at the edge of the rake. They go from smaller and more compact at the top of the rake, then to wide and spread out at the bottom. The stick of the rake is a leading line because at the angle this photo is taken, we can see it leading to the rake’s spikes. The texture of the rake looks more smooth without a lot of texture in it. In the stick of the rake we can see a different color variation of gray and brown mixed together. Behind the object there is a branch that is in the ice and snow. The ice is a light gray shade which becomes darker due to shadows. The branches colors are a darker brown with highlights of light brown. The branch is textured and we can see the different lines inside it that texture it.

In this photo there is a red rake laying on a branch. This photo is interesting because of the angle it’s taken at. I tried to get on slightly the same level to get a different angle. I also chose to place the rake so it was laying on the branch because it would look more natural and not so forced. The time of day this was taken at was around 10:20 a.m.

This photo is an example of depth of field. It can be seen because the small tower of rocks are in focus, and the foreground and background are blurred out. Depth of field is how much is in focus behind or in front of a subject.

For the Sewer assignment, I thought that it was hard to find different angles, and ways to try to manipulate the object to make it more interesting. I also thought it was fun for our first assignment, to try to take something simple and turn it into something more interesting.

For the sewer assignment, I thought that making an ordinary sewer different was to try to change the setting around the object. Other objects to try to change were things like snow or adding twigs and branches. Giving the photo some extra detail would make the sewer pop out, and become more interesting.

Focal length is the angle of view determined by the type of lense you use. The three options for lenses are a wide angle which is wide, a normal lense which is normal, and a telephoto which is small and zoomed.
