My evening sketchbook / doodles / comics are really different from everything else I do, and generally consist of phrases that I’ve been told, overheard, or read that I find appealing or somehow meaningful. I tend to couple them with inspiration drawn from clip art searches like “woman looking thoughtfully into mid space …” I have dozens, if not hundreds, of these images that began with the start of covid. I think I’m going to start posting them regularly for no other reason than I’ve been told that I’m in the middle of my Saturn Return, so maybe I’ll take them off my iPad and release them. Quoting Steve: “Around a month before Naimah passed away we were sitting on her nursing home bed reflecting on how much we loved performing and creating together An idea we had on another bed in our Greenwich Village apartment many years ago to turn our marriage into a performance art piece had brought us so much joy and bonded us so tightly together. On the nursing home bed we realized there was one more story to tell. The story of the last year of our lives. We started writing the final chapter of blackjewlove. We called it ALL THEY CAN SEE IS AN OLD BLACK WOMAN IN A WHEELCHAIR. It opens in February at the new Alchemical Theater. In a Christmas Miracle, Neko decided it was time to sit on my lap. It only took three years. She has very clear boundaries, that most people - including us - are a little terrified of. So, it has been years of squishy eyes, gradual head rubs, and the big win of head smooches.
