Jax's psychology is quite interesting.
Before episode 6, I commented on a video saying "I see Jax's behavior as very similar to some behavior I have studied. He likely doesn't feel safe around most people, even if he has no cause to think he is unsafe, so he chooses to retaliate with rude and annoying actions. Then people try to punish him, and this just feeds the cycle. Its a lot like how bullies work on the inside. He is trying to cope with the stress of being stuck and feeling like everyone hates him with anger and violence. He laughs at things that actually terrify him. While this isn't healthy for anyone involved, it happens far too often. He is using a type of masking behavior, but instead of trying to blend in, he is trying to scare everyone and everything that could possibly cause him emotional harm away. This is most often seen (as far as I know) in people who have been abused or bullied before. Basically, Jax needs INTENSE therapy."
I was told this aged well after episode six, and I have to agree. The only thing I would say changed is that Jax isn't trying to protect himself, but rather pushing people away to try to protect them FROM himself. He realized he was getting 'too close' to Pomni, and pushed her away. When he realized that was hurting her, he only pushed harder. He starts to crash out and almost abstracts. This also disproves the theory of Jax being an npc, because npcs cannot abstract. Jax likely hurt ribbit, so he is just trying to stop from hurting Pomni the same way. He is still not a very nice person, but at least it makes sense why.
