♾ would like to talk about Marie.

So I heard that back when Persona 4 was at the height of its popularity, Marie was a pretty big punching bag. People calling her a "spotlight stealer" with "forced scenes", and I heard that the anime for P4Golden got bashed especially because it focused a lot on Marie. Not to mention there being a debacle over whether or not Atlus meant for her to be the "canon romance" for Yu.

Cut to today, I'm playing Persona 4 Golden again. Marie... actually isn't that "intrusive" in the grand scheme of things. She stays out of the cutscenes from the vanilla plot, and her whole story is more of an optional sidequest that the player can choose to disregard.

As for her character, Marie isn't really insufferable. She's not my favorite, but I find her neat. Her freakouts and tsundere moments are more indicative of a dorky introvert than a girl with terrible anger issues.

I know this is kind of long, but I wanted to write something out about Marie after the sudden burst of love she got here recently.
