The thing is, all I’ve wanted is my mum’s support and I feel like without it, my art will never be as meaningful as I’d like to think it is. I just want her to see that I do have the talent and I can do both and be good at it. But she wants me to run her company one day and apparently, I can’t do that and paint.

Your parents sound amazing! I’d love to meet them just because I’m fascinated by that era. I think its the clothing truthfully. I have this obsession with neon, I love to paint with it and I’m waiting for the day it comes back in fashion.

Dad’s changed a lot. He’s not as fun anymore, so I don’t think you’d like meeting him as much anymore. Give your mom time. She just has big dreams for you.

Have you ever tried neon body paint? It’s fun if you have a black light.

I’ll be sure to put you close to the top of my list, after my professor. He’s the only one that really supports me so he definitely has the first word on my art. I’m excited and kind of nervous to show you my stuff because I’m so self cautious about them but you don’t seem judgmental so this might be a beautiful relationship. I would love to work with you one day.

It’s good to have someone that supports you. I’m not judgmental at all. My parents were hippies. Legit hippies. They went to protests and stuff in the 80s and tried to be all “natural” and stuff so I like to think that I’m pretty open minded. Plus I’m kind of a fun person to hang out with sometimes. If you’re lucky.

Well you’re lucky that your mom is so supportive. I showed my mum my paintings and she just threw her nose in the air and said I shouldn’t be wasting my time on such meaningless activities when I should be working on my designs. I’m not sure how to describe what I paint. I guess I take inspiration from everyday life and when an idea hits me, I paint. I use paintbrushes mostly but I’m starting to dabble in watercolor and charcoal more.

I would love to look at them. I have a soft spot for fellow artists so I want to be supportive in every way! I’m sure they’re not as bad as you think you are. I’ve been painting for 10 years and I still can’t admit I’m as good as people say.  Sometimes all it takes is another person’s opinion. Have you shown anyone else or am I the lucky one?

I showed my mom, but she always told me that my work was good, so. There’s that. What do you paint? I want to get into painting more. Watercolor is about the extent of my ability and even then I like to mix my media. I’m much better with a pencil or a Copic pen than I am with a paintbrush.

That would be amazing! Oh my goodness, I love comic books and would love to see a woman’s perspective on them! I take it you don’t want to do that anymore though?

Not much, no. I have some of my old stuff, though. You can look through it if you want to. When I was younger I had a serious obsession with Catwoman...obviously because of my name...and then I went through my Spiderman phase, so all of my characters were based off of those two. It was bad.

Thanks! I just have a lot of practice. When I was younger I thought that I wanted to make comic books, so I chugged along and practiced a lot.

Wow. So its still fresh. I’m sorry if this is bringing up sad memories for you. I don’t really handle death well. I don’t suppose anyone does but I never know what to say or do to really comfort someone so I feel like I make it worse.
