And… it’s a wrap on volume 1!

We’re happy to announce that the donation to True Colors United has been made. The project raised a total after production of $2,304.42 USD in funds and we couldn’t be more grateful. We’re sharing the donation receipt and our message to you, @dsavre and @spampistefania.

It’s been a year since we started planning this zine! There were many setbacks, and the journey ended up being way longer than expected, but now we’re truly finished with the first volume and couldn’t be happier to finally make the donation. You can check the transparency docs here.

THANK YOU so much to all the contributors and everyone who supported the project! It turned out to be a beautiful material memory of Marina for us fans, and the fact that it will also help the LGBTQ+ community makes it all the more meaningful and special.

We can do amazing things when we get together, and this is just one example. So… We would also like to let you know that Volume 2 is on its way! We got started a couple of months ago and soon you’ll hear more about it.

Hopefully we’ll be able to create another awesome zine together to celebrate Marina and raise even more funds to support our community through organizations around the world.

IMPORTANT — International Shipping

We ask you to please check your emails as you should have a confirmation that your label was created. However, we’re having trouble with a few addresses that USPS can’t verify (or the website just didn't send your confirmation by mistake, a glitch), so if you don’t have a confirmation, contact us please!

We have messaged some people but didn’t get answers from all, so again please check your email so we can get these zines home to you asap!

It’s not a lot of people, so don’t be alarmed! I just couldn’t reach out all of them as the only contact method we have is email. Either way, if you haven’t had a confirmation let us know.

Hi, there! A few updates!

Pre-orders for the digital version of the Marina Fanzine will remain open until the end of the month. As the main checkout pages were closed when the official preorders ended, now we'll be using PayPal. If you're interested in getting one, please DM us so we can give you the details on how to get your own PDF copy. 

If you by any chance need change your shipping address or email, please contact us at [email protected] with your new information so we can update it as soon as possible!

The keychains and packing supplies are here; the booklets and bookmarks are on the way and will be delivered to me by Tuesday or Wednesday (!); stickers are being finalized and will be here by the end of next week too.

Hey, look what just came in the mail!

This is the hard proof of the Marina Fanzine! We got it from the printer to make sure everything looked good before they start printing… and we approved it! (which means the physicals are officially on the way!)⁣

As you may already know, we are behind our original schedule of the production of the zines and here is why:⁣

When we first decided to try to organize a Marina Fanzine, we never imagined we’d get the support we’ve been getting from you all. At first, we weren’t even sure a physical copy would be a possibility, but we ended up selling way more than we expected — which is great, of course.⁣

However, a project as big as what this became is a big responsibility, so we ended up having much more work than we first thought we would have.⁣

That, added to our main designer going through major surgery, a moderator starting a new job and the other moderator going through immigration bureaucracy and our lack of experience when it comes to zine making, contributed to the production being so delayed. It's been a wild ride for us, we assure you.

Again, we're sorry for taking this long but we're thankful for your patience and support! We just want to let you know that we have been and still are actively working on this project (everyday, all the time, no kidding) and it will be here very, very soon.

Hi just wondering when are we gonna get our orders?

Hello! We’d like to update everyone on the status of the project. Zines were meant to be distributed mid July, but we’ve had some setbacks that caused a delay. Please know we’re working on it and trying to make sure we’ll be able to distribute the zines as soon as possible.

For further clarification: among the reasons for the delay, our main designer had to go through major surgery, so we kindly ask for a little more patience as we’re working as fast as we can to deliver a nice result.

Just wondering what’s the difference between prices? What’s the beer one to buy?

The prices are different because we decided to include some merch with the physical zines, so:

The digital copy includes a pdf zine.

The bundle 1 includes the physical zine + bookmarks.

The bundle 2 includes the physical zine + bookmarks + keychains and stickers.

Sneak Peak

Hi guys. You may have seen that I have written a fic for the @marinafanzine which is now available for pre-order. So, I thought I would give you a little sneak peak. It’s a sort of bonus chapter for emergency room dates.

Summary: When Carina is called into the hospital for an emergency she has to drop their three year old son off with Maya at the station. Cookies and an untied shoelace result in a trip to the ER and Maya panics.

“Mommy!” Maya heard a little voice and looked up from her paperwork to see her wife and 3 year old son rushing into her office. Matteo sent her a beaming smile from his place in his mama’s arms while Carina looked a little flustered. 

“I’m sorry about this, bella.” Carina was supposed to be on a day off but she had been called in.

“Don’t worry about it.” Carina put the boy down and he immediately went to the captain’s bunk where he knew a few of his toys were kept. “I called mom, she can come pick him up in an hour or so.” She took the bag that hung over Carina’s shoulder and put it in the corner. 

“I shouldn’t be long, they just want me to reassure them that this surgery is absolutely necessary. I’m hoping I won’t need to scrub in.” It was on very rare occasions that Maya had to look after Matteo while she was working. In fact, it had only happened twice before when there were major emergencies at the hospital. 

“Like I said, don’t worry. It’s only an hour.” 

“What if you get a call?” 

“Gibson can take the lead. That’s what lieutenants are for.” 

“Are you sure?” Maya was about to give her wife a reassuring response when a shout came from her bunk. 

“Mommy! My dinosaurs!” The boy ran out of the room holding two stuffed dinosaurs over his head, a grin on his face. The couple laughed, a smile appearing on Carina’s face for the first time since getting the call from Grey Sloan.

“I think we’ll be fine.” Maya said as her son ran up to her and took the dinosaur he held up for her.

I was very happy to be asked to contribute a fanfic to the Marina fanzine. ❤️ Pre-orders are now open, the details are above. To remind you, no-one is getting paid for this, all proceeds will go to True Colors United. To entice you, I thought I’d share a sneak peek of my fic… but to be able to read the whole thing, you have to buy a copy of the fanzine!  😉

Here are the first few paragraphs…

“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Vic asks, leaning in and lowering her voice so that only Maya can hear her.

Maya looks over her shoulder from where they stand by the ladder truck, busy with their chores, watching as Carina pulls on a pair of turnout pants.

“No,” she says plainly. “But Carina insisted that if she’s going to spend time working here at the clinic, she wants to know more about the community we serve.” After a beat, she shrugs. “Plus, she does look cute in the gear.”

The turnout jacket Carina found in the bunk room is two sizes too big and it swamps her, hanging loose across her chest.

“You know, you don’t have to wear that to go on a ride along,” Maya calls out to her wife. “Because I’m not letting you anywhere near a fire!“
