How could he ever say no to her about something like this? What he really wants to do is lie. Be irresponsible. Say we don't have to wait for tonight, let's go now, now, now. The way they play, the way she drags out every bit of what he has to give, it will be far from quick. And the world will spin on without them, towards chaos, towards war with their enemies up in Cleveland.

Forgotten state, Ohio. No outsider would ever claw and scrap and bite for it. That leaves Cincy, Columbus, Cleveland, and Dayton to fight like littermates. Akron, too, on a bad day.

And that's exactly why he cannot lie. Why he cannot be irresponsible. Why even now, his arms wound about her, one big hand splayed across her powerful back, the other slipping down, down, cupping against her ass just to keep her there against him, he's able to do his job. Be the leader he has to, because there is simply no one else.

And so everything else- his pleasure, his relaxation, her- has to wait. She understands. She knows him, knows his heart. Knows that even when he is the good soldier, it still belongs to her. What remains of it, gnarled though it is, placed willingly in her grip any time she wants it. Even when she doesn't ask.

"Tonight," he promises, eyes soft, pulse rabbit leaping just enough she'll notice. He shows his care in such a funny way, but it's real and white-hot anyway. "No distractions. Phone off." He'll leave Pac to run the show for them, like usual.

His hold on her hasn't loosened. In fact, that cupping hand squeezes just a little bit. He wants it as badly as she does.

"And I promise you this. When it's all over and we've won, you can have me for a whole day."

there was a flicker of selfishness igniting her chest. a single park. a moment that lingered and risked corrupting her best intentions and all of her duty. while he curled around her, hands reaching and grabbing, strong body closing around her, making her feel small only because of their size difference - which she enjoyed, sometimes, marina wished to order him to fuck her there and there. to pin her to the desk and rip her clothes off and feast on her. he'd do it if she said so. if she ordered. if she begged.

but she didn't. though she didn't let go either. not yet. still allowing herself some selfishness, lingering in that embrace for a few seconds too long. she snuggled in the crook of his neck, her face grazing his stubble. one hand ran across his skull, holding him close. "tonight." she promised, her lips drawing dizzily close to kiss his throat.

the words that followed were enough to get her to dream. she wasn't a romantic. she wouldn't fall into the trap of hope. but she might believe in those words, in that promise. "when we win," she looked up at his face, not expecting nor forcing eye contact. "you can have me for the rest of your life." they were above a simple 'I love you', those words meant nothing to people like them, but voting her life to him, to his causes, to his wellbeing, to his legacy? that meant something true.

never once had she been the type of woman who'd wish for a relationship or marriage, or the white picket fence dream so many people had. she wondered, though, if she had been more mundane, if they had been normal people, whether they'd be awarded something so peaceful like a normal life.

she slipped off him, untangling herself from his arms, as staying so close was dangerous. every second blurred her intentions, making it harder and harder to leave him. any trace of softness abandoned her features as she froze back into her composure. hands tracing behind her back, assuming a military stance. "I will go now and will keep you posted on the progress. I don't want to talk about this tonight." she grabbed the case off the desk. "be at mine at ten. you know the drill: fed and hydrated." like a pre-workout drill. she wanted him strong and with stamina to use up. she was gonna take care of the aftermath with pleasure.

Jay is more than happy to be pulled in by Marina. Her voice is makes his heart beat faster, as his hands run up her arms. He's appreciative for his height, following Marina as she tilts her chin up. He wants to do nothing more than lock their lips together right there, ripping her clothes off her and finding paradise between her legs.

The only thing stopping him is knowing how much Marina enjoyed teasing. Dragging things out. The longer they'd linger,the more danger of being caught. The more exciting it was. His hands come down her arms to rest on her hips, wrapping around them as he nuzzled at her neck.

"You don't have to do too much for a taste. Most of the time, at least." his tone was teasing, as he licked her neck with just the tip of his tongue. "You're always my favorite to fight with, you know that. Besides, I get a good feel up every time we spar."

she let him in as close as he wanted to be with ease, giving space, giving anything he wanted if only he asked. the slither of his tongue on her neck broke her breath, igniting her from the inside. hunger sliding down from her stomach to the pit in her abdomen, pressing and wanting. it did not matter how well she knew him by now. it did not matter that they got caught up in their secret and played house almost every weekend for a year. it did not matter that she could draw his likeness by memory, knowing every detail and every crevice and every scar and every inch of his body. it was simply not enough. never enough.

lying dormant beneath her skin, marina found the same monster that had been put to sleep when he was injured. the stakes dropped low when suddenly the only thing she needed to admit was that she wanted to see him. but now? now it was about being consumed. it was about having him despite the fight lying in the middle. or perhaps, precisely because of it.

her arms ran across his shoulders, hooking around him to keep him close in a similar way to that fateful night she choked him the first time. that thought brought a smile to her lips as she nodded, pushing herself to slot against him even more. "you know it won't be long before we get to do that again in the ring." she purred like a cat, as if she was telling him the sweetest, most adoring love confession. "david's pissed." she smiled, sharing jay's victory as if it was hers. as if it was something to joke about. she was well aware of what her duty and loyalty required. mox had already decided to support the dogs - and so she was supposed to be at their side like with any of the riders. she knew what she was supposed to do, but she also knew what she wanted all too clearly.

"question is, will you keep your hands off me?" she dug a hand through his hair, pulling on them to make him look at her, taking some control. "cause I don't know if I can keep mine off you."

this week I won't be on much, either for threads or dms *cue boos for my busy life* I've got work + tight gym schedule every day + MCR show in London over the weekend + working a wrestling show on sunday. SO please pray for me cause I feel myself breaking like legos.

know that I will eventually catch up on all that I've missed once I am back next week and don't be shy about sending thoughts over regardless of me being here or not or how many messages are piling. I'll still have my phone on me so I'll probably still be lurking, just not a lot of brain power coming from my side of things until things calm down.

I will get to some threads, but because time is what it is, I will follow the louder muses rather than the draft order for now. for the time being, the threads I will manage to get to will go in the queue, which I will restart when I compile enough stuff in it to serve me for a few days.

I saw all of your lovely inbox celebrations AND I will get to them when I can. obv moodboards will take me much longer, so I'll leave that to next week, but the rest I'll try to do in my spare time.

danny, like he imagined most people, never enjoyed the medic room after a show. there were too many people and a possibility of being 30 seconds away from bad news. it was stress inducing and he despised it. he blamed that on why he couldn't stop his leg from bouncing and not because his adrenaline was falling away from him now.

the slight pounding in his head was enough for him to nearly lean into marina; her touch more than welcomed and not just because of the much needed cloth. he could feel his body slowly calming at her presence alone. "yeah?" he looked up from under those lashes of his; his doe eyes piercing into her gaze. his eagerness to do good - to make her proud - to make mox proud dripped into his tone. "your feet?" danny mumbled as the cloth brushed over his mouth.

even if all the other times danny would have followed her instructions to the bone; he did in fact not stay still and ducked his head. he tried to lean forward to see her injuries before a whine of pain escaped him with ease. danny had never learnt the lesson to hide his pain, especially from marina.

a sheepish look came across his face as he slowly returned to his position. "it should have been me they did that too." it was not as if danny thought marina was weak. no, she was the strongest of them all but danny despised seeing her hurt and it was worse that she was ganged up on. stp deserved more pain and punishment; for wheeler and marina.

even as he spoke his head leaned into her touch; eyes fluttering. this time his head fell forward in relaxation before he could stop it. he ended up resting on her for longer than needed but she was his safety net. always.

she knew that despite her instruction, danny wasn't about to stay still, so she moved accordingly, fingers dabbing gently, and only when it was safe to do so. if anything, he sure was trying to follow orders, and at least he was sitting down, cause in his natural state, there was no keeping him still for longer than two seconds.

"don't worry about me." she brushed his concern off softly; her harsh tone turned gentle and caring. no one was allowed to diminish her with something so silly as protective concern. not even mox - especially mox, not when she was his shadow, his armour, his most dangerous, most loyal follower. anyone else who dared to protect her, who dared to treat her like a vulnerable little thing, would regret it in the blink of an eye. but danny had privileges. one of which was to be allowed to ask such a question, or to want to look after her, without risking the consequences everyone else would. to make him feel better, she turned slightly and lifted her foot, showing him the fresh bandage rolled around her plant. the gauze was pristine, meaning the bleeding had stopped. "see? I heal quick. and this is nothing." not that it was supposed to be of any consolation. nor the fact that she liked to endure it. "you know what we always say: pain makes you stronger. and no one is as strong as me." she carried those words with pride, but the implications lingered clearly between the lines of her wisdom.

she tapped his chin gently, making him look at her, waiting for his soft eyes to meet hers with a rare smile. "I am glad I took that. what they did to you was hard enough, plus," taking the chance, she pinched at his chin to direct his face and keep him steady while cleaning the cut. when he stood still, she was done in just a second. "if they hurt you any worse than this, they'd be in bodybags by now, and mox and me would be in jail." she found it funny enough to almost giggle, as if it was somehow funny. "how's your head?"

Mox does not have any experience in renovation whatsoever.

What he does have is grit, elbow grease, and youtube.

...Okay. He doesn't have youtube either, but he has people who can pull up youtube on THEIR phones FOR him, so that's the same thing, right?

"It's dirt fucking cheap for a reason." The thing went up on auction, but its owners abandoned the property, so now the city's offering it for pennies on the dollar.

"And, like...yeah, there are our purposes. But if not that route, we can find other uses for the building- even if it's just a safehouse, even if it's just storage. That would nly require a partial renovation, anyway. We wouldn't even have to fully fix whatever nightmare the wiring likely is inside those walls."

The big issue with old properties in Ohio's major cities is that they haven't had an electrical upgrade in a cool century or longer. Even the outlet type doesn't match the standard for most of the United States. Good luck finding a three-prong in any wall- it's two or nothing if the building or home is old...and this one damn well is.

So...crumbling plaster, god knows what kind of biological hazards and toxic problems outside of the potential for lead (this IS the rust belt, after all), and a fire hazard to boot.

No wonder so much of Cincy's in disrepair.

"It costs too much to demolish. It costs too much to do anything good with. That's the story of this whole neighborhood, and I just..."

He exhales.

"If not us, then who will?"

marina directed a sceptical look at the decrepit building. "I can see why they sold it for pennies. it is a construction nightmare and a renovation hell." she dared to move a little closer, unsure but curious all the same, determined to inspect from close mox's find. because if he saw something in it, then she was committed to giving him what he wished, just like always.

his words were enough to inspire her, and even when she remained slightly on the fence, his dreamer spirit was what made her smile.

"first of, we need to secure it," she vaguely pointed at the front they faced. "no doors or windows? kids get through here all the time, but it's our turf now, can't risk civilians running into us." talking like it was her new home, just for him. "first things first, we need to put up a fence and a gate around this carpark. then, we should probably have it inspected. I do not trust the council evaluation." she turned around, siding him, daring to squeeze his forearm affectionately. "c'mon, show me inside. let me see what we got into."

wheeler's eyes followed her every movement; not in the near openly pathetic way danny did but in his own style. in the beginning, when marina first entered whatever they had been back then - a brotherhood? family? yoots fought against the scoff threatening to escape him at the audacity of those words relating to their group; then and now.

as ever, wheeler lost himself in his head for longer than was healthy if he was honest with himself. what he was trying to think was marina had scared him; terrified him even. hell, they all did but now...now, he was numb and seemingly going through the motions. not that he could truly escape the connection he had with her, with them - nor did he truly want to.

in equal measure he despised and adored the praise that came his way. a shiver running down his spine as he answered, "I don't want you to hold back," wheeler practically muttered out as he stared from under his lashes. his eyes motioning towards the empty untouched ring.

in an unusual move, wheeler didn't wait for a reply from marina as he stepped around her. the eagerness for the punishment on his body moved to the forefront of his mind and bypassed the usual dynamic. it was the one thing that had not been broken from him - yet. it clung to him with the stubbornness he had once had.

with ease, wheeler moved through the ropes before looking over his shoulder to her.

marina nodded, no fear, no emotion showing on her blank, fair face. she simply watched and executed, following yuta's lead, ready to give him whatever he needed. whatever he asked for. and more. there was affection, hiding beneath her severity, faded behind unblinking eyes. pride, even, in all of his accomplishments and in the warrior he had become. but yuta wasn't a product of her training, he didn't come from her. when she found him, he'd already been branded and made a weapon. there was a missing there. a jealousy over that piece of his history ripped out of her chest from when she wasn't even in the picture. when the riders were another type of club. perhaps that was the reason why she was much harsher with him than anyone else.

and, perhaps, that was exactly why he kept coming back to her.

the world was an ugly place, so she was gonna be worse; that was sort of a mantra she kept dear and close anytime the riders needed a reminder.

no words needed. they slipped in the ring, and she gave him the grace to get in position before attacking, coming down on him hard. harder still anytime he folded or missed a step. worse when he landed a hit or a lock. though, marina wasn't mox's best just by chance. every hit she welcomed with a twisted smile, pain igniting her, adrenaline flowing free and helping her focus, every grab or lock an easy thing to slip out of, especially for her, who had martial arts branded in her blood.

she reversed a headlock on him, holding him from behind, chest pressed against his back as her forearm squeezed on his throat, pressing on his carotid like she would if she were fighting and looking to make her opponent pass out. "c'mon, wheel," she huffed in his ear, still squeezing, still pulling him hard against him, forcing his body to bend under hers. "you know how to get out of this. so do it."
