like the thing abt felix's surname is that yeah his dad was a piece of shit but so were his ancestors they're literally cut of the same cloth? the entire show happened exclusively bc of emilie dating someone from a lower class so while we don't know much about them they still caused a mess. i don't think felix wants to be associated with either legacies he was just always meant to be a bird flying freely in the sky

i really like this take actually. it's easy to assume félix would prefer his mother's name but in reality the graham de vanily lineage has its own troubled history and amélie probably has complicated feelings about it too. and moreover —

— félix doesn't seem like the type to choose a different name in order to shed the burdens of the past. he would rather use his freedom and power to change what his name represents to himself and to the world and make it into his own.
