Sometimes I forget what a powerful bender that kid is.
I loveeee studying traditional fashions from around the world! Personally, I do traditional Syrian embroidery work and am fascinated by other types of embroidery and styles of dress. This piece is inspired by the traditional and historical dresses across Asia. Of course I couldn't fit every country here, but I drew at least one country from each region of the continent! Hope you all enjoy ♥️

How I draw skin Part 2: DON”T DRAW NATIVE PEOPLE WITH RED SKIN!!!! A tutorial
For the first tutorial on how I draw skin, see the post here.
But seriously, I’ve seen too many drawings of Native characters with literal red/pink skin to count so just in case some of you are having troubles with drawing Native people, I’ve provided a guide for you. Please take my swatches if it helps!! and no more red skinned people, please <0<
Disclaimer: this tutorial is mainly about the artistic depictions of Indigenous Peoples in North America, where the slur and redskin caricature originated, but it would still be racist to draw other non-North/Central/South American Indigenous groups like this so…..don’t.
It’s not mentioned in this tutorial, but I’ve seen it in other posts by Natives, so I’m going to mention it:
When seeking out your refpics, do your best to find Natives ACTUALLY FROM THE TRIBE YOU ARE DRAWING, or at least from the same geographic area. Not all Natives look the same.
This person is Diné (Navajo).
This person is Blackfoot.
And these people are Iroquois.
Do you notice something here? Wildly different skin tones, facial shapes, and overall body types? Native people are INCREDIBLY diverse.
Make sure you’re representing the correct tribe. Don’t draw a Blackfoot woman as a Hopi woman or an Inuk man as a Wampanoag man. Natives don’t “all look the same.”
no longer going to pursue a career! id like to be a rock. thanks

Do y’all remember in legend of Korra when harmonic convergence happened and all the airbenders started showing up? And one of the airbenders was Bumi? Well, what if all the airbenders who showed up were descendants of past air nomads? Think about it:
- bumi, the son of aang (an air nomad), gets air bending. Previously a non-bender who was the descendant of an air bender.
-the rest of the air benders emerge from the earth kingdom (particularly ba sing se) which wouldve been the Safest place away from the fire nation for air benders.
-the team never found any air benders in the water tribes or fire nations (and if you think about, it would’ve been hard for air benders to have gotten there), BUT it would have been easy for air benders to hide in the earth kingdom (which is where they were all found).
-it was stated in the comics that some airbenders had escaped Sozins first attack (however some were caught using traps) but it wouldn’t have been impossible for some to have survived by ignoring the traps and making their way to safety.
-like I said, a bunch were found inside the walls of ba sing se, the impenetrable city, the safest place for anyone escaping persecution.
-there was evidence of some non-bending characters acting in a very fluid way that could be seen as air bending moves (ty lee being the biggest example, but some dai lee agents showed it too)
-even if only like, 100 survived, they all could’ve had kids and continued a lineage that could’ve awakened their air bending after harmonic convergence.
-it would’ve been hard, but like we saw with aang in season 3, you can find ways to hide your arrows, which they could’ve used to hide themselves from the fire nation.
-I wouldn’t be surprised if some fire nation citizens who disagreed with Sozins actions also helped hide airbenders (and maybe even in the fire nation as a way to hide in plain sight).
So basically what I’m saying is that:
Legend of Korra airbenders were descendants of the escaped airbenders and you can’t change my mind!

I’m back!
Hello! It’s been a while, but I decided to take up tumblr for creative purposes. Twitter has stressed me out enough politically, want to nurture some of my creative energy here.
Life update: I’m now a sophomore in college and have been traveling a lot, especially back home to Syria. I also lived in Egypt for a few months last summer for my internship and have been to DC a couple times and networking with other people interested in foreign policy. Kind of missed it here. How are you all?
