lent 2016: day 1.
Last year, I decided to read Rick Warren’s “The Purpose Driven Life”, a book that took me on a 40 day spiritual journey. I originally opened the book to increase my knowledge of the living word and soon found it to do so much more for me than I had anticipated.
One of the greatest lessons it had to offer was to walk through life with love, and to embrace life, despite the many trials we’re given. We were created out of God’s love and by sharing this love, we can see a new light and pave the way for new avenues and opportunities.
He is amazing for accepting me as a sinner, for challenging me with trials, so that I can refocus my thoughts and actions on his mission, for for constantly building a better and stronger heart in me.
Lesson learned: Do everything in love and you’ve realize it’s the best way to witness to others. Have faith, and the blessings are endless.

This year, I’m starting a new book: Life Is____. A Forty-Day Experience.
In the midst of getting a new job and the day to day routine my life has been, I needed to refocus and put my faith at the center of my life again. I’m so excited to spend more time reading the word again, and spend time with the one who loves me the most.
Day 1.
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries for tomorrow...the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus, our Lord. - Romans 8:38-39
When is it hardest for you to remember that God loves you? Are there particular circumstances or character issues that make you forget? If so, what are they? When things don’t go according to plan or as envisioned, I lose sight and start thinking negatively. I continue to see things going wrong, and I’m clouded. I could think that I’m doing everything right and it still isn’t enough or sufficient for myself or for others.
Is it easier for you to accept God’s love or his commands? Why? I think it’s easier to accept his love. To see his love through our prayers being answered makes it visible, and in return, makes us happy. It’s selfish because we, often times, only seek his love when we’re in need. His commands are harder to carry out with the distractions and temptations that are out there. How convinced are you of God’s love for you? What convinced you? How could you be more convinced? I’ve experienced his love through some of the hardest times of my life. Through my family, my friends, Ascension Performing Arts, some strangers I encounter, people that have briefly come into my life at such coincidental times.Â
