Television and Film: The Year in Review 2014
While a few years from now, even now I’ll look back and think what a loser and a waste of time, but, Orange Is The New Black was part of an amazing summer for 2014. I’ve watched some new brilliant films and television in the last 12 months, some from my list of over 500 films on the IMBD app, some told by my friends which made watching them even better because for the first time, I got to talk to my friends about something we’ve all watched.
Things like Orange Is The New Black, Frozen, Transparent, the sad but excellent movie Bicentennial man starring the last great Robin Williams. The butler, Iron Sky the original Mrs. Brown, as well as that Irish woman’s film Da Movie.
I hope to see some of these TV shows return in 2015 and of course, continue to watch further brilliant things.
I promised myself this blog would be a happy light from the world for a few moments, however long it takes you to read, but things I didn’t like, and some of these may offend my friends. Supernatural- bored after a few minutes of the pilot, Saving Mr. Banks – could have been better, more about Disney maybe, possibly even more about the father-daughter relationship. And finally hunger games. Just in my opinion not great, however I did by the next one so wait for a revival.
Once again like the music of the year, to get a glimpse of Mark culture, you have to watch these films. From past experience watching me trying to explain these television shows is a painful exercise, not just for my lecturers.

Song of the Year 2014
Music, like most people I believe is very important for me, I can’t play an instrument, I believe I can’t sing myself, but does that really stop me? Hang out with me for an hour and you’d find out I love to sing, may give you a head ache, may not know the words, but something comes out of my mouth which makes me happy for a little while, and hopefully entertaining, obviously in the comical sense to whoever listening.
Being as vein as I am, for the last few years, I have made a awards evening every week on the tube ride home with a work friend where I decide the song of the week, and she’d instantly criticise my choice as being too old or generally a rubbish song, like I’d give a crap what she thought.
Here’s the songs that made my year. They remind me of a place or people, generally a wonderful time or just a good song. For the last few minutes I’ve been going through my Ipad trying to find an example, like in a note written on 24062014 04:57, most likely Victoria Tube Station, clubbing to Whenever Wherever by Shakira with Maggie and Kajan the night before.

because I am such a Gilmore Girl fan and because I couldn't find the original music video
Don’t ask me how it’s just how these things work, anyway all of these songs are really great, and at some time or another, for the next few years at least, whenever we hang out I’ll be singing these songs.

The Best of the Year 2014
Quote of the Year 2014
Last New Year’s Eve, a friend of mine, Rosie brought round a jar to the house we were partying in. it was filled with events and the date, funny quotes and generally anything Rosie wanted to remember when she’d open the jar and go through it new year eve. While I can remember the evening and the jar, my attempt at making one fell on deaf ears this year. That’s mostly why I plan to make this blog.
The problem with me that I have learned over the last year or so is that I have very good memory for utter crap. I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot by saying it but, something possibly important can slip my mind, or even worse, I repeat myself, that Mariah Carey is my cousin, distantly, or my Dad has the blond woman from ABBA’s new CD, what an old fart. Yet while in a dinner with friends setting, they’d tell a story and I’d be able to finish it if they’d said it before or say more about the person they’re talking about.
However I am drifting, here are the quotes that made me wet myself the first time I heard it, and ever since.
And the nominees are
Mark Baguette
Do you want an enchilada? it doesn’t have to be too spicy, ok bye
The cold never bothered my taco
Maggie
I’m like one of those people who don’t want to be identified - interview for university documentary November 2014
Wish you’d stop breathing - pool game with Kajan July 2014
Rather eat my own shit - texting about hanging out with my brother
Tulley
I wear the glasses in this relationship
Kajan
I SAID BYE!
And the winner is
ALL OF THEM
Because 1. While some may be out of context, they’re still great, and 2. The fact I can remember them and they are still funny means they win on their own anyways.
