Julian pushed at his face whining softly as he was used as a towel and shoved further into the bed. Markus woke up a bit roughly and Julian wanted to whine a bit more as Markus got out of bed. He had been content to snuggle for awhile but the other male had other ideas. “The bathroom is through there.” He mumbled sleepily as he pointed to the next room. Moving to lay on his stomach and burrow into the blankets with the full intention of going back to sleep.

It was early in the morning, and whatever Julian had done to his arm had worn off enough to leave it stinging again in the morning. None of that would keep Markus in bed and away from his morning run. He was a morning person and he had a routine to keep.  Markus clapped Julian’s thigh even as the man grumbled, using him and the bed to support himself as he stood.

“A-yup, bathroom time, gonn’ shower” That was the only warning he gave Julian before he became fully nude and stalked over to the shower to clean up.

Julian was too sleepy to answer him back and Markus was almost asleep anyway. He slept through the night like he always did. Nothing ever kept him awake or woke him up when he was as tired as he had been that night. He woke up in the late morning squished between Markus and the mattress. Yawning softly he poked a bit at the other male’s side wondering if he was awake. “Markus? Are you up?”

“Mmmnnh” Markus groaned in answer, still mostly asleep on top of Julian. He rubbed his beard, and the trail of that night’s drool, over Julian’s back in way that was more like a wipe then a nuzzling. He groaned again, stretching out and pushing poor Julian down into his mattress a little more. He sniffed and kissed Julian briefly on the shoulder, not entirely awake, before he rolled off of the other man and halfway onto the floor. “Mmm, shower? I think I need a shower I kinda stink...”

Julian stared at Markus in partial amazement as he seemed so comfortable. Julian would have been a nervous wreck if he had been at the other male’s home instead. He liked how at home he made himself though. It made Julian feel like he would be around for awhile. Smiling shyly he stripped out of his own shirt and climbed into the bed. Choosing to sprawl out half on top of Markus instead of trying to fit in the small space that he left.

“Nn-yeah come here.” Markus stretched out to grab hold of Julian who was already half on top of him. Surprised with how the day started out it would have ended like this. “Tomorrow, tomorrow we can worry about bonding and ceremonies or whatever. Right now I’m tired so let’s sleep.” He wiggled a bit so he could get his, mostly nude, body under the covers and throw a bit over top of Julian for good measure. “Dude you have got to have like, the worst circulation, because you are so chilly.” Markus added, then yawned sleepily, closing his eyes and letting himself drift off before Julian had a chance to answer.

“I’m glad you like it. I like to keep it clean but I’m not obsessed or anything. I like my home to be cozy.” Julian smiled as he was pulled into the bedroom. More than happy to go along with Markus. “I won’t sneak out into the living room. I don’t mind sleeping with you at all. I might try to cuddle with you but you can’t really blame me for that. You look like you would be really warm and great at cuddling.”

“Yeah I can tell you look like a cozy guy.” Markus laughed, pulling Julian along so he was nestled under his arm like before when they were walking toward the house. “Good, cause I was just about to warn you how I get a little cuddly, or grapple-y as people who’ve shared my bed before have put it. I get a little grabby in my sleep.” Markus was laughing again as he detached himself quickly from Julian, pulling off his shirt was made all the easier by his partially numbed arm. He stripped down then fell back on the bed with a groan, he spread out like a starfish on top of the bed taking up most of the room.

“what? no…no way, are you sure?” jessica asked, as she glanced up. the brunette was at the market, picking some fruits && vegetables when she met the person who had told her about a recent fight between two werewolves.

“Yeah! Sure as shit, man.” Markus was excited just to have someone listen to his story, he used his hands expansively as he described the scene. His basket of vegetables shaking as his arms swung wide.  “These two just started duking it out out of nowhere.I think one starting shouting about a bonded or a girlfriend but, yeah, right in the middle of  Bando’s Ice Cream parlor. Sprinkles everywhere.”

Julian blushed a bit at his comment. “Do you like it though?” He asked quietly as he squeezed the other’s hand nervously. “I’m really sorry about it not being made up and ready to go. That was thoughtless on my part.” He sighed a bit running his hand lightly over the other male’s arm with a bit of his magic to help with any pain he might have been feeling. “My bed is made up yeah.” He answered with a bit of a blush as he took Markus to his bedroom. It was a little bit darker than the rest of the house but he always liked it as dark as possible when he was trying to sleep. “Of course you can just sleep with me. That makes more sense anyway. Then you don’t have to wait to go to bed.”

“Like it? It’s great dude, I didn’t expect you for the down home rustic type honestly. Here I was thinking I’d have to take my shoes off at the door and constantly be wiping up after myself. Uh... huh...” Markus trailed off as he felt the tingle of healing magic, Julian’s feather light touches over his arm. It numbed the sting a bit more, which felt good, and left Markus just staring over at the other man. His dark eyes half-lidded and intense.”That sounds good, I am pretty tired. Are you going to be okay with sharing a bed with me? Sure your not going to scamper off into the living room to sleep on the couch?” Markus was smirking as he grabbed hold of Julian’s arm and pulled him into the main bedroom.

Julian walked towards the door pulling Markus along with him until they were inside. He didn’t drop his hand after they entered he just started taking him around the house. Showing him the various rooms which were all decorated in a rather vintage cozy style. “I have to make up the bed for you. I don’t really get guests so I don’t make the guest bedroom up often. It kind of has a lot of books in it because I’ve been using it as a library.”

“Shit, so this is a real actual pretty cute storybook cottage kind of thing.” Markus smirked as he found that he was actually kind of enjoying the tour, and he liked the rustic touches around the house. It was a bit unexpected from his impression of Julian, except for the part about the books. “Dude, c’mon, I’m injured, the doctors gave me painkiller pills and I’m about to pass out. How long is this set up going to take? Or you know,” Markus wet his lips, turning to Julian, “I could always just spend the night in your bed. It’s already made up right?”

Benjamin sighed staring up at Markus a bit impatiently after finally regaining his balance. “Markus! I can’t slow my roll. I am really late and you always complain about it. It is not my fault though because I got lost. Did you know that there are two parks around here? I asked for directions and they told me to go to the park. So I did. But! I went to the wrong one! Do you get lost too? I get lost so much. I need a map or something.”

“Yeah Dude,  there’s two parks, one greasy dinner called Parkette, one ‘fishing hole’ that word on the street is perfect for skinny dipping, and exactly one movie theater.”  Markus shook his head and started to laugh, bringing up one hand to ruffle Benjamin’s hair. He intended it to more of a tease then outright condescension. “We should get you a map, at that community center that doubles as a meet and greet sometimes. It’s by that other park though.”

Julian snugged in close to him for a few moments before pulling away reluctantly. “I guess I should take you home now.” He sighed softly as he reached down to hold the other’s hand. Turning to walk down the street until they reached his little home. “Here it is.”

“Possibly, now that you got me you better take me home.” Markus teased with a smirk. He wasn’t expecting the hand holding but he let it happen all the same. Fingers interlocking, feeling a curious sensation in his chest that he stuffed down as they reached Julian’s front door. “I got to say I’m kinda excited to sleep in an actual real bed without those motel sheets that feel like a horrible combination of steel wool and wood side paneling.”

Benjamin was late. He was normally late but this was late even in his standards. At least twenty minutes. It was pretty bad but he had gotten lost. So to make up for time he started running towards the meeting spot when he lost his balance and had to bring himself to a rather sudden stop right in front of the person currently standing before him. He had grabbed on to their arms for balance but not hard enough to knock them down. Quickly dropping his grip he gave them a little smile. “So sorry about that.”

Markus barley even moved when he felt the push and pull of a person coming to a sudden stop and grabbing hold of him. If he was being honest, which he often was, even Markus would admit he was possibly the best choice for support. At least by human standards he was an immovable pillar.

“Whoo, buddy, slow your roll. You’re going to put your eyes out or something like that. Sprain something.”

“Wah- … ah.. no, no not like pot,” Sebastian said with a laugh, “I meant MEDICINAL herbs, like Theanine, maybe if I meet up with him I can reccomend something,” he suggested with a slight shrug, “I get that alot, but trust me, the right medicine or herbs really does wonders, besides I’ve spent well over a decade trying to get myself sorted out, it isn’t easy, but anything is possible with a little persistance,” he was glad to see Markus getting more and more comfortable with him, it certainly made his job a little easier

“O-Oh uh… as much as I’d love to I have to respect a bonded man- or .. to-be-bonded that is, and it’d be a shame if I drew ethics questions my very first day here, I’ll keep the Jojoba oil in mind though,” he smirked back, “I think the problem is the food chain, so to speak, I mean think from a human perspective for a moment, human history has always dictated that a species you’re unfamiliar with- hell even a CULTURE you’re unfamiliar with- has to be ‘tamed’, if it can’t be tamed it has to be hunted, I mean… wolves are a perfect example, human history is a combination of breeding wolves down into pocket-sized dogs or hunting wolves for no real reason, the supernatural aren’t that different, just like humans see a new species and either want to kill it or keep it as a pet, the supernatural is the same, the difference is that humans aren’t a new species, it’s just new that we, as a community, have shown ourselves to them, humans are to us the way wolves were for you, right now my culture is trying to either slaughter you or domesticate you, and that’s a terrible thing, I mean, look at the state of wolves now, it took a few centuries but they’re an endangered species now, it’s just a learning process, we need to live in harmony with all who inhabit this planet instead of slinging our weight around like some kind of pissing match, unfortunately teaching people that lesson is… slow, and difficult, and it can’t happen all at once, but it WILL happen, I promise, and until it does, my advice would be to keep showing people that humans don’t NEED to be pampered and coddled, but do it … gently, show that humans aren’t anything to be handled like glass, but they’re not anything to be hunted or harmed either,”

“Okay, okay, sure doc. Only the medicinal herbs.” Markus laughed, mouth open and grinning as he winked at Sebastian. “But yeah I get that, perseverance. I’m a physical therapist so that is like half my job, just encouraging perseverance.” Markus stretched out his legs in front of him, trying to get more comfortable in the seat. He might even forget he was in a psychologist’s office if he was allowed to get any more relaxed.

“Aw, c’mon doc. Just because I’m bonded doesn’t mean I’m married. Shit.” He sat up, brows furrowing suddenly. “It doesn’t mean that does it? I just kinda thought, you know, bonding was just some kinda buddy thing. You know when you’re a kid and made to choose a buddy when you go on field trips? Did I fuck up here?” Markus was so concerned about his sudden worry that Julian might have different expectations than he did that he nearly missed all of Sebastian’s musings on civilization and cross-cultural relations. “Okay, I mean I can get that these things take time. All the same I really would like supers to figure this out before humans become the endangered species.”

Julian sighed softly as he moved to wrap his arms loosely around the other male’s waist. He felt oddly comforted by the light presses to the back of his head and he always turned into a bit of cuddle monster whenever he got affection. “So you try to throw me out of whack on purpose then?” He asked slightly amused by the thought of it. “I promise to always be honest with you. I don’t like having secrets and honestly I think they’re a waste of time anyway. Plus trying to hide things stresses me out.”

“Yeah, that’s just something I do, like how you get awkward. I provoke people and act like a facetious dick bag to see what people will do, or distance myself or fucking whatever. That shit’s to much like shrink talk to me.” Markus started laughing awkwardly, his hand moving from rustling Julians dark brown curls to patting the other man’s back. “Thank man. That means a lot to me.”

“Some people just are that way, I’m a very anxious person myself and when I get nervous it can be … well I imagine my bondmate, whenever I meet them, will have quite a pill to swallow with me,” he said with a slight laugh, he understood Markus’ perspective, it could get difficult to know what to expect from someone so nervous, but he also sympathized with the other’s bondmate, knowing how it felt to have so much anxiety and virtually no way to control it, “Do you know if your bondmate takes anything to help him with that? Medication? Herbs? I take a homeopathic remedy myself, maybe something like that could help calm him down,” it had taken half of Sebastian’s life to find something that would help him but once he finally had his life had vastly improved- so had the way he handled people, “I understand, believe me, I mean hell I once went on a date with a guy who thought that being bisexual meant I was still closeted because I was being ‘only half-gay’, the hardest part of being different from the social norm is when you’re attacked by even your supposed allies, my first incident was when someone I thought was my best freind ended up being homophobic, I found out before I came out and it was just… crushing… I’ve had some .. issues with it, with people and their ignorance, I’ve never been someone who can handle it well, so I’d be awfully hypocritical to judge you for getting worked up about that,” Sebastian could see that Markus was getting more comfortable, wich was quite a releif, it was always so much easier to talk to people when they were comfortable

“I get it- and you DO have outstanding hair, I mean… my God, what the hell do you use man..?- if I’m understanding correctly, you want things here to be mutually beneficial, not just humans being protected but also humans doing the protecting, I agree with you, there should be a better system so that supernatural people can protect humans and humans can protect supernatural people, it shouldn’t be so… one-sided, maybe you can start to change that- slowly, you know, not jumping into the line of fire or anything but.. slowly but surely,” he hoped so, alot of the frustration from humans involved in this community seemed to come from the fact that humans were the ones getting all of the protecting, and Sebastian perfectly understood that, he just hoped that with a little more time and effort the kinks would (atleast mostly) be worked out of this program so that everyone could be happy with it (or mostly everyone, anyway)

“You mean like pot? Like get him to smoke pot and maybe he’ll chill out?” Markus started laughing, and leaned back into his seat. “Okay maybe that’d be fun to see. But shit yeah I get what you mean about assholes like that, thinking you have to be one way. Still can’t imagine you being anxious, not like Julian anyway. Walking in what would have been minutes late with lollipops, bro please.” Markus laughed and kicked up his feet on the table in front of him. 

“Jojoba oil, you got to rub it into the roots to get it to really work.” He grinned, fingers drawing through his shoulder length hair. “You’re not hitting on me are you doc? Cause, I mean I’m flattered but isn’t that a little unethical?” He smirked then winked. “Don’t worry. I won’t tell.” He groaned as the talk became more serious. “Yeah, you get it. It just feels like people here are a little to happy to think of Humans as these inferior creatures that need to be coddled or pampered. Which, you know, is nicer than being killed but not much better than being used as pets or slaves.”

“Now, just so I know, when you say ‘squirrely’ do you only mean anxious or.. do you mean suspicious? Do you think maybe he’s hiding something or could be up to something?” if there was anything Sebastian needed to know, it would be that, he needed to make sure the bond wouldn’t go through if there was anything remotely suspicious about the witch in question, “I’m sorry, you know, if I sign WITHOUT asking all these questions and somebody should happen to find out I might lose my job, so it’s mandatory you know? So.. the guy you punched was homophobic? I can’t say I blame you for that then, I’m bisexual myself and I know if there’s anyone on Earth that would make ME lose my temper it would be people like.. THAT…” Sometimes Sebastian said things to encourage his patients to talk or make them feel more comfortable, but this one was completely true

“I’ll be alright, you don’t like feeling coddled and like you’re kept locked up in a tower, there’s nothing wrong with that, so if I may ask, bonding isn’t by any means mandatory for humans, why come here and subject yourself to it if you don’t like it?”

“I mean anxious man, like worried and awkward. I don’t think he can be suspicious he told me like all his dirty secrets withing five minutes of me meeting him. I think anyway.” Markus pinched his face in though, hand scratching at his beard as he wondered if Julian was duplicitous enough to fake everything. He shook off the concerns before moving on this the psychologist. “Alright, guess I can’t blame you for wanting to do your job. Glad you can’t blame me for wanting to shut up the guy quickly. I mean you get it right? That stuff--the homophobia you’re talking about--just shitty enough to deal with when you’re not in a place literally designed to be safe.” Markus balled up the paper mash in his mouth, the only thing left over from what once was a strawberry lollipop, and picked it out with his hands. He was starting to become more comfortable again, whoever this guy was or whatever his story he was really good at connecting.

“Yeah! I mean I know I got beautiful hair but that doesn’t mean I need to be treated like freaking Rapunzel.” Markus laughed, rolling the paper mush into balls with his fingers and gingerly setting them down on the table. He might have been getting too comfortable. “Okay so, I talk some shit. I know I do, some of it is just valid critique but I still kinda believe in what you guys, or we guys, are trying to do here. Being safe because we’re looking out for each other--it just has a nice ring to it you know?”

Julian sighed turning back around to face Markus he stood in his way so the other male had to come to a stop. Crossing his arms he pressed his forehead against the other male’s shoulder as he spoke softly. “I’m sorry. I know I’m really awkward but I just don’t know how to socialize with others. I get embarrassed and upset easily.”

“Oh hey, yeah,” Markus, a man who typically didn’t have to think about what he said and didn’t bother to think even when it might have helped, actually too a second to pause and reflect on what he’d say next to Julian. “I’m kind of a shit anyway. I do it on purpose you know, provoke people, make them unconfortable. I just like honesty you know? I catch people off guard they’re more likely to be honest. You’re just surprisingly honest.” He cleared his throat, patting the back of Julian’s head as it was pressed against him.

“I am, really, that’s actually why I became a psychologist, I’m very soft-hearted,” he said with a slight laugh, taking note of the way Markus destroyed the lollipop stick, he couldn’t help but wonder what the other man would have done to the thing if he was in a bad mood…. “Mmm… chronic oversharing, do you know if he has anxiety or worries alot?” Sebastian asked curiously as he crossed one leg over the other and leaned back a little further in his chair, “So what did the human guy do that upset you exactly? Did he insult you, threaten you, taunt you…? And the two potential bonds you scared before, did you scare them on purpose? I mean, I scare people sometimes without meaning to, people have told me I have a ‘resting bitch face’ and I’ve been told that people are afraid to approach me because of it, I mean, that, and the fact that I … look like I do makes me intimidating, you’re even bigger and more masculine than I am, I’d imagine that alot of people are intimidated by you just because of how you look, wich isn’t fair at all, and if that has anything to do with why your potential bonds were afraid… if you don’t mind my asking, what does bonding mean to you? You know, to some people bonding symbolizes security, safety, or even just a gurantee of not being alone, to some it’s more about romance, to some bonding doesn’t mean anything at all and they do it because their partner wants to or because it’ll keep their partner safe, to others it doesn’t even have anything to do with their partner, just with getting to live here,” Sebastian wasn’t quite so sure about Markus’ proclaimed calmness, but if he knew what bonding meant to the other male it could very well help him determine his state of mind towards his bondmate

“Alright, guess that makes sense.” Markus’ eyebrows shot up and down as he sighed and relaxed down into the cushy seat across from his psychologist. “He seems pretty anxious maybe. Just a real squirrely dude, so squirrely man that if I wasn’t already definitely sure he was a witch I’d think he was some sort of squirrel shiftier.” Markus’ mouth screwed to the side. “Come one doc what’s with all these questions? I gave you the run down. The guy was just real in my face about me being some sort of wimpy-ass boy toy and I don’t really mesh with that. Okay, not exactly in my face but he was being real snide. As for the would be bonds they got pissy when I told them what I thought about the bonds in the first place.” He sighed harder, so it became more of a grunt as he leaned forward in his seat, more on the edge with his arms crossed and body closed off.

“Bonding to me means dependence. Means I’m dependent now, on living here, on being safe and just surviving with this squirrely dude. And he might be alright but just, it sucks being a human and told you’re basically like walking tissue paper in a world full of rocks and shit.”

Julian felt like the nerdy kid at school being taunted by the hot jock for his flirting. He knew he wasn’t the best at it but did Markus have to make fun of him? “I don’t look down on humans. I’m not that kind of supernatural.” H moved away from Markus picking up his pace so he could walk several steps in front of him. “Listen I know my flirting skills aren’t great but if you weren’t interested all you had to do was say so. You don’t have to pick on me about it.” He was sure that Julian was about to make some comment about him being sensitive but he just didn’t care. 

“Aww come on Jules don’t be like,” Markus called after the witch when he felt the man slip out of his arms, “that I was only playing around. C’mon you’re welcome to play back, you see us as equal right? And your flirting was fine. A little unexpected sure after that talk you gave me trying to run me off with your feelings, but I didn’t say it was unwelcome. Jeez, you’re touchy.”   As if on cue Julian’s guess about Markus commenting on his sensitivity was spot on correct. Markus sighed heavily and hung back, following behind Julian.
