Missing Phillip Seymour Hoffman...
âI submit to you that the greatness of Philip Seymour Hoffman, in both individual roles and over the course of his career, is that he never stopped measuring the distance between what we want and what we get, what we hope for and what weâre stuck with â the perfect poetry of man at his most ideal and the crumminess of day-to-day life⊠He kept our secret â that everything goes to hell eventually, sometimes even beautifully â even as he acted it out, and for that we gave him our trust and the kind of love most movie stars only dream of.â âTy Burr
âPhil permitted us to let his reflected light make our lives brighter, and not in a condescending way. In a generous way.â âJohn Baynes
âA pencil in his hand, a script at his fingertips, questioning, seeking, an inscrutable character being drafted, drawn, beamed in from the cosmos, an unknowable man becoming known, an unknowable man becoming seen, because he had to be. Because for Phil, to not create would have been to die a different kind of death. And each role provided him with a different kind of life. We are blessed with all the lives heâs left behind. The ones on screen, the ones he fathered, the ones he inspired, supported, enlivened and made better through his talent, generosity and humanity.â âEmily Ziff
â[Making art is] very fulfilling and challenging and maddening. Sometimes you can never get it right and usually you donât, and you realize how art and life are very similar, ultimately. They really are. They donât really end, and they donât really answer themselves⊠The good stuff, you know?â âPSH
Happy birthday, Philip Seymour Hoffman! (July 23, 1967 â February 2, 2014)
"Being around Phil is a reminder of how rich and great life is." âAmy Ryan
"He gave life and honesty and breathed fullness into all his characters and work in the way only those who have been uniquely gifted and talented could chose to challenge and pursue the responsibility of possessing such a gift, with love and kindness." âTom Hardy
"Phil is still with all of us who were blessed to know him (and/or his work)âforever." âSteven Schub
"Isnât it worth grieving? Isnât it worth destroying yourself in order to move on? Isnât it worth going through whatever you need to go through in order to move on? Isnât it worth loving somebody even if this might happen to you? Just a communal understanding that love is worth it; grieving love is also worth it and that it might be this interesting, this colorful, or this odd." âPSH "Everybody on the planet, if looked at closely enough, is worthy of being loved with the most love that you could ever give." âPSH
Happy birthday, Philip Seymour Hoffman (July 23, 1967 â February 2, 2014)! â€ïž

I really hate being recognised. Iâm quite a shy person, and Iâm not very good at talking to strangers. So when people come up to me in the street, I just find it quite awkward. I donât really know what to say to them.
âItâs an origin story through the eyes of Dickie Moltisanti, Christopherâs father. The Tony Soprano we know has this beautiful vulnerability underneath and this rough exterior, but what if we flip that on its side and you watch a creative, hopeful, kind, curious kid get whittled down and formed into what he has to be?â
