SUPREMA Exhibtion @platte.berlin Mark Pillai shows the movements of a figure that seems to disintegrate under water almost to the point of dissolution. The snapshots thus counteract the alienation, the powerlessness and at the same time the sublime feeling of man towards the cycles of nature, which is also referred to by the title SUPREMA. Rather, Mark Pillai's artistic work pleads for ecological awareness and action in the sense of sustainability - not only in the world of fashion, but in all areas of life. Text: Christine Rahn The images were created in collaboration with @b_o_r_b_a_l_a_ , an upcycling fashion collective based in Budapest and Targu-Mures.They create one-of-a-kind, experimental garments, and earrings from post-consumer plastic waste, leftovers, and textile waste. They deconstruct second-hand clothes while pushing forward traditional techniques and DIY methods like patchwork or textile collage. Their aesthetic is spontaneous and colorful always playing around with the concept of old and new, waste and precious, traditional and contemporary. Collaborations, workshops, and sharing knowledge are essential parts of activity.
