Acrylic ink on synthetic paper - that’s a nice field - and it’s a square! Deep down, I think Instagram is a bad substitute compared to a picture on a web page on a large display, and even then I think the web pales to being there in-person. But it is what it is, and perhaps I’m just talking in metaphors. Maybe it’s just my mood, which has absolutely nothing to do with art or painting or music or anything like that right now. I’m definitely back in “the bardo” again, which means I’m in a transitional phase. Actually, multiple transitional phases. It’s all good, but it’s a lot of mental busy-work that completely stops the creative side. I think it’s OK to acknowledge the obvious: “I can’t do this right now, but it’s just temporary and I’ll be back soon.” Everybody wants “your time”, but I need “my time” right now - for processing, re-processing, thinking time…. Tyvek is such a great product. Spun-bonded olefin. Discovered in the 1950s. Patented by 1967. It’s a house wrap, safety material, or, in my case, a painting surface. Yesterday I bought and picked up my Hugh Lifson painting from the gallery. I’ll unwrap and reveal it live during my lunch hour today. I had to do a selfie in front of a couple of unsold paintings. Honestly, I wanted to buy them all. I will get another later this year. The gallery owner said Hugh booked a show for 2025, when he’s 87.
