Squaring Off - 7 to 10 Longhorns live just down the road from my house. I enjoy driving up and down the road that cuts through a large Texas ranch where they roam. Although it looks like a fignt is brewing, these 2 are actually just browsing together with no intention of fighting. ©MarkWBallard

Birds on a Wire - I’m always amazed at the unified flight patterns of a flock of birds (“Murmeration”). Here’s a flock that landed, for the most part equidistant, on power lines and a transformer. Why don’t they get zapped? If they managed to touch 2 wires at the same time, they would be fried and your house would go dark. :)

Lightning Braid - This braided wire is mounted on top of a 5 story garage building and runs to the ground to catch any lightning bolts that might otherwise strike you, your car or the concrete garage. I just like the look of the braid, about as thick as your ring finger... ©MarkWBallard

Curious Dove - Central Texas is home to lots of birds, including a few curious Dove. This one, basking in the 100 degree sunset.

Passage to Intrigue - Every once in a while, I come up to the top of a local parking garage for the cool sunset views. This little green passage has always intrigued me. I like to update the shot now and then... ©MarkWBallard

Persistence of Life - This giant old Hackberry tree split in two. We cut it off to keep it from falling on the house, but obviously, it doesn’t know it’s supposed to be dead...
