theyâd kept running into each other - again and again and again. first in their building ( what were the odds! ), then at every other party across the english capital, until they had finally got to talking. with the magazine running on its last fumes and no investors to be found anywhere, zahra knew they needed to get people talking. and what better way to do that than a feature on marlon king? meeting him at the lift, she offered him her most winning smile. â nice to see you again, â she greeted, offering a kiss on each cheek because - well, she might live in a boring city, but she was still french. â do you want a tour of the place first, or should we just get to the interview? â
It had been a while since Marlon had gone on an interview anywhere. The last person to interview him in light of his profession had been some online magazine heâd never heard from after that, so to say that he was excited was an understatement. It was always an ego boost to know that somewhere out there was a platform that was actually interested in hearing from and about him -- it came second only to having someone tell him they liked his music. âHey!â Marlon greeted Zahra enthusiastically, only a little thrown by the cheek kisses. Recovering quickly, he gave her a bright smile. âI wouldnât be a southern boy if I didnât go on at least one tour. Itâs what we do best down there,â he added, grinning. âIn America,â he added quickly, as though that needed explaining. âNot to brag but Iâm an expert at getting guided around a place. You should see me checking out some furniture.â
