I really want to see the Grand Canyon someday, so, Arizona. But I’d also love to go to Paris or Rome. I feel like Europe is just very different than anything I could see in the US.

“Pleasure to meet you,” Clemmie said, noting that the girl held her hand a little longer than was necessary, but she wasn’t complaining. Addy lifted a hand from her walker to wave to Marlo and then put it down again to steady herself. Clemmie laughed as the girl let go and shook her head softly at her apology. Addy grinned as she was called a bulldozer, “toe crusher,” she agreed. She lent towards Marlo as the girl offered to tell her a secret and beamed as she was told that dogs liked bulldozers. Clemmie nodded in response to the blonde’s question. “We’ve love to see them,” she agreed, “I work quite long shifts but my sister has agreed to dog share so that they won’t be alone too much,” she explained.

„Great!“ She walked behind the reception desk to get a bundle of keys from a drawer and then moved towards the entry of the hall. Holding the door open for the both of them, she smiled at the words of Clemmie. „I’m glad to hear it. I like to say that any home is better than the shelter but sadly, that isn’t always true. But I have no doubt you and Addy will take great care of whatever pet you decide to take.“ Once in the hall, she moved, further along, to open the door to the adoptable station. As soon as they were open, you could hear it was a place filled with energy. „We take animals from the city shelter whenever they are filled and would be forced to put down some of the dogs or cats. We also take in strays but we always put them into quarantine and vaccinate them. Once we are sure they are healthy, they can go up for adoption. But I’d show you some of our lovelies which were brought in personally. That way I can ensure the dogs work well with kids and Addy won’t have any trouble with them. Is that okay with you or would you rather look around yourself first?”

She chuckled softly when Marlo promised that the building was clean. “I believe you. I promise, I’ll come by.” She said with a nod. “Where does your mom live now? That sounds like it would be a lot of fun. The beach is always a good escape. When would you go?” She asked her. “You have always been really independent. It’s a good thing.” She smiled at her friend. “Thank you, Marlo.” She replied quietly. She hated getting emotional in front of anyone, so it wasn’t likely that she would ever actually come apart in front of her friend but she appreciated that she cared. “After being together for so long it is really hard not to think in terms of what is hurting him and what will be best for him in the end..” She shrugged. As they were approached by the waitress, she order herself a salad and a glass of wine. “Anyways, that’s pretty much been my life other than working. I bought a real estate agency here and it’s been… Crazy.” She laughed.

„Still all the way in Malibu. And it really depends on when the shelter lets me. With all the cold, I don’t want to leave the guys working there hanging.“ Marlo shrugged once and offered all of her attention to Avery. „You got it. Literally. If anyone can come out stronger from a bad break up, it’s you. And if you ever need a distraction, you have my phone number. I’m great at talking nonsense and sipping wine into oblivion. My door is always open, okay?“ With a reassuring smile was on her face before she nodded once. Marlo had no interest in pushing Avery out of her comfort zone. She just wanted to make sure the woman was aware she would do her best to not let her down. When it was time to order, Marlo asked for sweet potato fries and a glass of coke. A very grown-up choice next to Avery’s. „A real estate agency? Really? That’s amazing! How’s that going for you, you businesswoman?“

Another day, another walk in the park. Literally. Marlo grabbed Dime and Penny to visit their favorite place – right after her own bed and the hot dog booth around the corner. It was decently warm outside and she figured if there was any day to let her dogs frolic, it could be today. As soon as they entered the dog park, Marlo unhooked both their leashes and looked down as both dogs waited for their okay to run. „Okay friends, be nice. Go!“ And like two roadrunners, off they were. Marlo strolled around, always keeping an eye on them. However, after a couple of minutes, she saw Dime chase after some other dogs ball, but Penny was nowhere to be found. „Penny!“ She called out once but nothing. „Come here, girl!“ No sight of a Wonderdog. „Pe-„ Marlo was cut off by a very familiar bark. Jogging, she quickly came to a stop as she spotted Penny, in an awkward sitting position, ears pulled back as another dog tried to, well, herd her. Or at least that’s what it looked like to Marlo. „What the…“ In confusion, Marlo looked around for another witness before looking back at her dog, clearly just as confused about the situation she had gotten herself into.

“Okay, okay!” Nikolai said, raising his hands in innocence with a laugh. “Just don’t ask me to sew it back on or anything.” Nikolai followed the ever-enthusiastic Marlo as she skipped with her cans of paint back into the living room. He stood just to her left and looked around the room as she spoke about what was in the fridge. “Oh, good,” he said then with a laugh, “Although… I think you’ll think I’ve pre-gamed before this once you see how good I am at painting.” He took one of the brushes from her then, “You’ll think of me as more of a Jackson Pollock.” 

„Shouldn’t you be good at that though? You know, cutting up body pieces and sewing them back on? If you aren’t, I might have to call your boss, Nik. I don’t want to endanger any dead people.“ She teased with a grin before crouching and working on the lid of the can. „If you Jackson Pollock my wall, I’ll Jackson Pollock you.“  She warned, brush pointed at him. „You’ll lose brownie points, I swear to god.“ She tried to sound serious but her words were laced with laughter. To be fair, if it looked bad in the end, at least it would be a story.

“It is! I just enjoy hanging out in places where there are lots of people,” She admitted sheepishly, maybe it’s the inner college me trying to come out. “Oh! That’s exciting to hear, hope the magical beautician does what she promises. Although, I have to say, it makes you look pretty badass.” Margot smiled genuinely. “Juicy? My life’s unfortunately like a dry orange, not much juice. But I guess I did get into a fight and then make up with Jason. Convinced the hot one to come to the ball as my date, and, I think the best one is that Clem is looking to adopt a pup!”

“I know! You’re a social butterfly and I’m the wicked witch - the green one from Broadway. But it’s part of our charm.“ She said with a little chuckle while shifting in her seat. Tapping on her glass, she nodded but then shook her head. „I don’t know. I’m kind of over them.“ Marlo glanced up, rolling her eyes when Margot told her there was nothing going on in her life. „Bullshit. There’s always something going on in your life. You just named three things on the spot, you player. Let’s count them down, what’s up with Jason?“

Clemmie was excited, she was getting a dog. She’d always been unsure about it until her sister had agreed to share the dog with her, meaning it’d get far more attention than if she had it alone. She’d been in two minds whether to bring Addy with her or keep it a surprise but she decided to bring her to the shelter, she needed to make sure that the dogs liked Addy, as well as her liking the dogs. Clemmie extended her hand to the girl and shook hers with a smile, she couldn’t help but notice how pretty the girl was but she pushed it to the back of her mind, now was not the time. “Yes we do,” she grinned. “I’m Clemmie,” she introduced, “and this is Addy,” she said, with a nod to Addy who was in her walker. “We are looking for a dog to join our family, but we need one that is good with kids and relatively big otherwise miss bulldozer here might run them over with her walker,” she joked.

“Nice to meet you, Clemmie. I’m Marlo” She gently squeezed her hand while shaking it, smile remaining in place as she looked down at the little girl. „And a pleasure to meet you, Addy.“ She gave a little wave with her free hand and realized she was still holding the brunette’s hand. Quickly letting go, she chuckled awkwardly. „Sorry.“ Taking a casual step back, Marlo nodded once she heard what Clemmie was looking for. „You’re a bulldozer? That’s so cool! I’m kind of jealous right now. But I’ll tell you a secret, okay?“ Marlo crouched in front of the little girl with the walker, covering the side of her mouth with her hand as if she tried to keep the secret between them and away from Clemmie. „Dogs love bulldozers. Trust me, I know.“ She winked at Addy before standing up straight again and turning her attention to Clemmie. „Now that we sorted this out, I think we’ll have some perfect fits around here. Want me to introduce you to the little guys?“ She glanced at both girls with a genuine smile.

Of all the days Zoe could have thrown the biggest tantrum her mother had ever seen, she chose the one day in the week Genevieve didn’t have a sitter to look after her while she went shopping for groceries. Whenever a shipment at work didn’t show up on time, it was her responsibility to make sure the kitchen had everything ready for lunch and dinner services. She also needed things for her own refrigerator, since everything she had was running very low. When Genevieve had all her ducks in a row, her kitchen was never empty like that, the one at work and at home. Lately, everything seemed too much for her, so when the baby began to scream her lungs out in the dairy aisle, it marked the end of her trying to get anything done at the moment. “Shhh, okay. What’s the matter?” The infant threw herself back against the seat in the shopping cart. “Zoe, please! Stop that.” Her brows became furrowed, losing her patience, but Genevieve calmly picked her up if that’s what she wanted, the crying should have stopped. Zoe tried to wiggle out of her grasp, going for the blueberries sitting on top of some bread in the cart. Gen should have known. Reaching for the package of the berries, she gave her a few, and that made her immediately go quiet as she put them all in her mouth at once. @marlosage

Marlo wanted to waste some of her time at the grocery store. It was one of her days off and she made no plans for the day, wanting to simply enjoy not doing anything. In need of shampoo and dog food, she strolled through the aisles, rolling her eyes at some of the prices while picking up some junk food, which she had plenty of at home, but never enough. She quietly hummed along to the song which played through the speakers before it was overshadowed by a kid’s cry. Nothing unusual, kids cried at stores all the time. However, when Marlo strolled passed the aisle where the whole dilemma happened, she quickly recognized the mother. Approaching Gen, she saw her give some blueberries to Zoe which instantly seemed the calm the little girl. A small smile appeared on Marlo’s lips as she came to a Stopp next to the woman who was now holding her daughter. „Hello ladies, I see we crave some fruit today.“ She brushed her hand over Gen’s shoulder in greeting and then gently squeezed Zoe’s hand. „Well, aren’t you a little opera singer?“

Marlo was informed by her co-worker that someone was considering an adoption of a dog and they wanted to meet the little guys which resited at the shelter. News like that always excited her, especially in the colder months since it meant another pet could spend the winter in a warm, cozy home. Before greeting the visitors, she took off her working gloves and exchanged her dirty working jacket for the one she came to work with. First impressions mattered, after all. With a genuine smile on her face, Marlo headed to the front intake, where the reception was. She quickly spotted the visitor and approached them, extended her hand to greet the woman. “Hi, I heard you want to meet the puppies. Is that right?”

It’s not a moment, more like a few years of my life but I was such a liar in elementary school. I really wanted to be cool but I wasn’t so I lied about everything. I had like 10 made up aunts and uncles who did the greatest things. I was such a stupid kid. I suppose I spent all my lies in elementary because now I’m way too honest.

Dirty Dancing! Cast? Amazing! Soundtrack? Flawless! Plot! Wholesome! Jennifer Grey was my first movie crush at the age of 7 or 8 and my bedroom was covered with posters of Patrick Swayze and his beautiful 80s hair. I truly have the time of my life whenever I watch it because nobody puts Baby in the corner!
