Brief positionality statement for context, I’m born in China/immigrated to US,

I think one of the funniest things in Hazbin Hotel is how US/English speaking focused it is, like out of the Entire World ur telling me every overlord is English speaking with the only (confirmed to my knowledge) bilingual overlords being Carmilla Carmine & Valentino who speak Spanish and Alastor who speaks French - if you count Nifty in as a former(?) overlord then there's one (1) Japanese speaker as well

Like the lens of English as the dominant/assumed language makes sense I think OOC from a US show but the worldbuilding gets so funny then IC. Like, (presumably) English is the only language spoken by the Royal Family (assumed from what's known with Charlie / Lucifer) and Pentagram City infrastructure/entertainment/culture/news is based around English speakers. Logistically it also makes for waaaaay less headache in plotting and worldbuilding so not every interaction is hinging on a lynchpin of understanding

But then it's so so funny when overthinking it IC; are you simply cooked if you die and don't speak English or does the language come free with your death?? The differences in languages are ackowledged, like Charlie Cannot understand Nifty's Japanese so it's not a case of a common tongue that just Happens in Hell -

I shouldn't think about it too hard but I do think that true Hell for me would be dying and going to hell and it's Turbo America
