Ok so Sherlock is trying to prove to John that John can solve mysteries without Sherlock. Why am I getting the feeling that Sherlock already knows he’s going to have to ‘die’ soon?

Sherlock’s pose is based on (I think) Sidney Paget's 19th century illustration for "The Adventure of The Blue Carbuncle" (for those who didn’t know but I think it's a rather famous image of Sherlock).
John’s pose is inspired by S. Paget's illustrations of him, only sassier to match his partner's :D.

Okay… I’m gonna say something about Johnlock in Sherlock & Co.
First off I would like to place a HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY emphasis on the fact that this is JUST speculation, so DONT get your hopes up, okay????
Secondly, DON’T go harass the creators for any creative decisions they make. It’s their podcast, and we’re lucky that we get to listen to it.
Now, that being said: I know that the creators have said that Johnlock won’t be canon, however, I find it unlikely that they would tell us outright if they were to make it canon.
A relationship like that is 10x more likely to be revealed/confessed when everything is on the line. I’m talking Final Problem, when Sherlock either goes over the falls, or right before. I think we just have to wait and see.
Think about how many similar situations have happened previous? I’m sure a lot of TMA fans remember RQ saying no kiss would happen in the show, but we know how that ended. Or how Jorge Rivera-Herrans said no Sirens would show up in EPIC?
Again, YES, THEY ARE DIFFERENT MEDIA, AND ITS ALL SPECULATION. REMEMBER THAT AND DONT HARASS ANYBODY.
If they are telling the truth however, we as listeners will accept it, it’s their podcast, it’s their decision.
I think it’s possible. I don’t absolutely need a clear confession in the podcast to sell that they obviously love each other and are each other’s person. But I think it’s possible! I mean sheesh Sherlock already had a moment like that where he told Mariana to “tell him I love him” and “If he too doesn’t make it I’ll tell him myself” In the empty house.
Idk if it’ll be romantic or one sided or queerplatonic or Sherlock has feelings and John is clueless. But I feel like fina will bring it out and force them to think about things (or at least John lol)
I love John to death but I feel like occasionally he takes Sherlock for granted whenever a pretty woman shows up. John losing him (as far as he knows permanently) … that’ll force some feelings/realizations to the surface…oh i don’t know if im ready for it
All in all I hope fina holds their bond up to the light and they’re forced to address the nature of their relationship.

Sherlock and Co is scratching the itch that my 14-year-old BBC Sherlock hyperfixation left me, except this time it’s really good. That being said, it’s really funny to try and deduce what’s actually Doyle Canon with just these two data points.
(I did try to read to original stories when I was in the midst of the hyperfixation, but I was 13ish, and to be honest I’ve never liked that era of British literature. So I gave up and don’t remember much.)
For example, it genuinely caught me off guard that Mary also died in the podcast. I thought that was just Moffat hating women. Does she die in the original canon? I’m tempted to say yes, but then John had that 4th-wall-tapping monologue about “another universe” where they were happy together with kids, so hey, I can’t be sure.
Then there’s the fact that in both, John goes to a drug den to get an acquaintance back home to a worried family member, and finds Sherlock instead. A sequence of events so specific I have to conclude that’s original canon.
And in both, Moriarty uses bombs to hold people hostage and compel Sherlock to act, but in such different ways I have no idea how that originally went down.
Sure, I could always try reading the original stories again. But honestly I’m having more fun wondering.
