@ayla_woodruff - Just posted my first set on my website in over a year. www.depict.photo (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/CSnpcoIrgMV/?utm_medium=tumblr
As dumb as it sounds, I have had a little bit of anxiety about starting to post on here again. Not that I haven't wanted to. I just think for a long time it stopped being fun and became something I HAD to do. I use to take this IG/social thing serious, posting 3 photos a day, 5 sets a week. That means I was shooting and editing nonstop, all while working a full time job, not making much money from photography at all. Over time, I went full-time with photography and started to get more and more busy which meant posting less and less. Going from 5 sets a week, to 4, then 2, until I just could barely keep up with work and posting my own photos. Then the pandemic hit, and everything slowed down for a few months. I thought it was gonna be slow for a while, but all of a sudden work started coming in and I took as much as I could; commercial work, promo, eccom, OnlyFans, and even YouTube. Now I’m almost to the point where I’m shooting more video than photo. (never thought that would happen) It was always the plan to get to the point where I had a camera in my hand, full-time, and was making a decent living. It would have never happen without social media and getting my name out there. So thank you for being patient and not unfollowing. I might not ever get back to the point where I’m posting 5 sets a week but 1 set a week is totally doable. So let me finally finish this set of @ayla_woodruff , cause that hour glass has been pouring for way too long. This caption has nothing to do with these pictures. It’s been a tough couple weeks. Wrote something, give it a read if you have a few min. (https://www.depict.photo/blogvideos/help) Link In Bio https://www.instagram.com/p/CBcBHJPH6F6/?igshid=1mop5eqfvlyj8

@sommerray taken w/ SX-70 - I love shooting instant film but I don’t shoot it often because it is expensive but I love the look that I get from it. (at Middle of No Where) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAtDMNAHRY9/?igshid=1u61t39hybtt3

I can’t lie, these past couple of weeks have diminished my motivation to work on any of my photos. It’s just hard to concentrate on anything that will not immediately pay off. So I’ve been prioritizing but It bothers me that it’s come down to this survival mentality. I want to enjoy the process again. This evening I went through a bunch of my photography books and I’ve been reminded to look for the moments that are easily forgotten. No one will ever forget living through this time, but there are still moments of beauty that are forgotten unless captured. I’m not talking about the moments that people stage or try to direct. I mean, the moments when people are truly themselves and are not trying to act like we aren’t living through something is impacting the world. Those moments deserve to be captured too. I’ll sometimes chat with some of you and at the end of every conversation, I’ll say, “KEEP SHOOTING!” Taking photos has gotten me through tough times in my life and it has paid off in a lot of ways. I now have to take my own advice. Stay Safe! (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_o2ONnHYIT/?igshid=grieg48brzsl
