So I get RWBY and the rest are trying to find their own path as many of the adults in their lives despite helping at times haven't been doing as much as they should at the moment.

Similarly Susie, a character from Deltarune, had been mistreated by adults and even her own school teacher is afraid of her. And Gerson, the old turtle guy, even though being a mentor toward Susie doesn't help her directly, instead trying to show her worth to herself by tricking her into using a healing spell without telling her exactly what she needs to do, Susie proves she can do things on her own when it comes to healing, something she was losing confidence in.

But with RWBY and the gang, since the beginning of Volume 6

the longest theyve gone without direct help from an adult was after Ozpin told them to go to Atlas to Maria telling Ruby specifically what to focus on to unlock her Silver Eyes

Like the intention makes sense and I get Ruby is doing a rallying cry for peoples emotions but with what we've seen its protrayed more as Ruby being sick of Qrow rather than reflecting on things she proven capable to herself.

If Rosegarden does end up becoming canon, at the very least the show has presented why Ruby would like Oscar back in Volume 6

In Volume 6 words like from Jaune in Volume 5 "you gave us the courage" do comfort Ruby, but also puts her in the position of being responsible for everyone's morale. So later, when things fall apart, Jaune's own words show what that costs. He says bitterly, "Everything we did was for nothing... great plan everyone." If Ruby is the reason the group had courage and hope, then when the plan fails, that failure reflects back on her specifically.

Oscar never speaks to Ruby's guilt directly, but he indirectly changes the emotional environment she's stuck in to something that doesn't single her out as the emotionla anchor.

When the group is falling apart and Jaune is lashing out, Oscar says, "Look, none of this is great, we know. But we're not the bad guys here" and "These past few days, I've been scared of the same things you were... I don't know how much longer I'm going to be me. But I did some thinking, and I do know that I want to do everything I can to help."

And this is why in Volume 7 Ruby is less rushed to answer Oscar compared to Yang:

Yang: (frowning) We're really not gonna tell Ironwood about what happened to Oz? What we learned about Jinn? About Salem?

Ruby: We are. (small sigh) We will.

Oscar: Ruby, hiding things from Ironwood, doesn't that feel like what Ozpin did to us?

While Oscar speaks, Ruby's smile turns into a frown. She turns her eyes away from him in silence.

How the merge and ascension both fail and work in presenting story morals

Fails:

-Merge conflict despite having been ongoing for multiple volumes most of the developments have been offscreen compared to other background stuff like Ruby's repression

-Ascension conflict framed as Ruby drinking the tea in despair was framed as a suicidal-like crisis to be talked back from, while Neo leaping into the Tree to stop being who she is gets a hat-tip and a serene bow. Coded as tragedy for one character and healing for another, with nothing in the text explaining the difference except which one the plot needed back.

Pros:

The merge is a visual metaphor for coming of age for responsibility: for the moment when a duty bigger and older than you moves into your life without asking, and growing up becomes a negotiation over how much of yourself it's allowed to take.

Ascension is a visual metaphor for Creation cannot happen without destruction: before something new can exist, the old must be allowed to end.

Ruby and Oscar or Rosegarden Analysis: Why Ruby Handles Oscar's Sincerity Better than Other Characters

When comparing both Volume 6 and Volume 5 we see Oscar hit close to home certain things for both Ruby and Jaune.

Different Coping Mechanism

The difference isn't because Ruby is nicer but because she doesn't actively hide that things are okay like Jaune.

Its more of something out of her control due to feelings due to circumstances for her case whereas for Jaune it stems more from his Volume 1 days where even in the bully arc was trying to act like things were okay and then lashing out at Pyrrha for example.

This connects to Volume 8 and how Oscar brings up Ozpin. Even though it makes Ruby sad, she's not straight up repressing it resulting in her talking to Qrow about it

2. Oscar Casually Bringing Up Emotional Issues

Oscar more easily brings up worries about being like Ozpin to Ruby compared to Yang who does so with Blake in Volume 7 and worries about conflict when the gang was arguing about splitting up in Volume 8.

As someone who wants to help everybody, Ruby think things through more rather than rushing through things as a result despite Oscar's personality contrasting her own.

1. Never leave a friend without a partner

2. When your friend is on a crazy lark, keep them company

3. Always check in on your friends who might be struggling (but do it with a manifested key so you don't have to knock and show you care, obviously)

General Summary of Ralsei's Arc in Ch 5

Starts off as a jealous rivalry with Flowery

Then goes into more how Ralsei is still struggling with the prophecy not being changed and how his fears prevent him from using his full power normally

This gets compared to Flowery's confidence

However as the chapter progresses, Flowery, despite acting happy, starts losing confidence when he and the other flowers are struggling to make Asgore happy

Ultimately , we only see some off Ralsei's held back power when not pressed down by his fears but now Ralsei is becoming someone who is willing to let go , being trusted by Susie and Kris.
