I agree with you, but there were others who were getting upset, and hurt. I just wanted to help everyone feel good. I'm so sorry if I failed at representing Christ correctly. It was never my intention.

i know that. and i know it can be upsettin. but remember that part of our privilege means we get to walk away from that upset. the people our churches have hurt, they don’t get to do that. it’s our responsibility to endure that so that we can fix it together. imagine how many more people might be willin to embrace what we’ve found if we could undo the hostilities of our predecessors. that’s worth it to me.

ain’t my place to judge who does and doesn’t represent christ. only his place. but i think if you’re that worried about followin his word and showin empathy to everyone, you’re probably doin him justice just fine. be good to your brothers and sisters as best you can, i’ve got faith that that’s enough.

God almighty the last thing I ever wanted to emphasize was a #notallchristians stance. I just saw people getting hurt by their outburst and I wanted to remind them that they were hurting people while at the same time acknowledging their pain. That's a hard and shitty tightrope to walk but I'm trying to empathize with everyone :[

yeah, that makes sense. but that’s why we can’t answer outbursts of pain with things like this. does it suck to be assumed to be some bigoted asshat because i’m christian? sure. but respondin by pushin them away won’t help. you feel me? there are real experiences behind that pain that christians of all denominations have a chance at easing if we just listen rather than shut other people off.

i dunno. the mortals of my faith have done some real bad things in the name of god. i want to be part of what makes that right again. we all should.

THis is the DC strider anon. You're right, Christians should have to explain it, and deal with it, and not sweep it under the rug. You're 100% right. There's no excuse for it. I was just saying People suck and will use any excuse to blow each other up.

sure. i don’t disagree with that. but, shit, even i have been hurt by my church. refusin to listen to the anger of our brothers and sisters that blinded them to the light of our god ain’t gonna fix anythin? the sooner we have an honest conversation about the churches we’re a part of, the sooner we can be what we’re supposed to be. avoidin it isn’t gonna fix anythin for anybody, those of us in the church included.

we all deserve better, is what i’m sayin here. we don’t have to draw these lines. and when someone else does, we should try to reach over them, not underscore them.

i’m not about people that think their privilege is more important than the anger of victims of a power structure. this is bs. as a christian, i’m gonna humbly request that you guys stop tellin people hurt by the church to shut up. please stop it. if you’re a christian, it is your responsibility to earn the trust back of people of other faiths, not the other way around. their anger comes from a valid place. #notallchristians is not a good look for us.
