Was practicing some traditional today. I actually like traditional far, far better than digital (for a number of reasons but I won't get into that. No on wants to listen to that rant ha).

Marvel's Atlas, from the Thunderbolt comics. He's my second favorite of all time in the marvel universe. He was sketched, transfered, lined, and then inked.

Happy birthday to me and much love to my wonderful wife for letting me buy the greatest birthday gift ever - all 20 pages of original inks from Thunderbolts #171!

I've been emailing back and forth with inker Terry Pallot for over 2 years to make this happen. Kev Walker's pencils were printed out in blue line on these 11x17, 90lb bond pages and Terry then applied the ink overtop. He actually hadn't filled in the large black areas originally, choosing to do them digitally instead, but offered to finish inking them in physically before selling me the pages.

Either one of the splash pages from this issue were up there in my holy grail of Thunderbolts original pages that I dreamed of owning, so to have the whole issue now is such a thrill that I can't even articulate it.

Maybe one day I'll scan the pages for clearer digital copies, but for now you'll have to settle for these photos :)

It may have taken over 25 years, but Marvel is finally releasing Thunderbolts collections broken down in the way I've always wanted them.

If you haven't picked up the first T-bolts Epic Collection, it is pretty much perfect (other than not being hardcover).

just found out this is a variant cover for the new Thunderbolts #1 (even though Songbird doesn't appear anywhere in the book).

I am long past the days where I'll pay $100 for a variant cover, no matter how rare it is, but I'll have to track down the not-a-virgin version of this and grab it for cover price.

Random thought that I didn't know where else to post -

Jim Zub was promoting his last volume of Thunderbolts as "Ted Lasso in the Marvel Universe," but I'm reading the Busiek and Bagley issues from when Hawkeye first joins the team again, and getting that vibe way more from them.

A genuinely good guy joins a team that's lacking direction and looks for the best in all of them and just believes in them to help them succeed on their own. One of his star players has to go away (MACH-1) but he gains another one (Charcoal). There are a number of secret plots working against him, most of them planned by the attractive blonde woman.

Like it's not 1:1, but the vibes are there way more than they were in the last volume IMO
