I was wondering... what do the rest of you og Thunderbolts fans think about Fixer and Citizen V showing up in this future Iron Man series?
I've got a couple of thoughts.
First of all, they're very obviously on the villain side of this cover, meaning they're gonna be antagonists. Which is...especially funny considering Fixer was the only Thunderbolt that had the semblance of an arc in Doomstrike, and the whole point was that he wanted to be on the good side of things again. Having him switch back the second he gets another appearance is definitely a choice.
I'm not too distraught by it because Doomstrike is...well it's not REALLY a Thunderbolts story as much as it is a Bucky one. Because of that Songbird and Fixer's scenes felt incredibly shallow and them not holding a shred of weight is fitting as much as it is depressing.
And also Mel should whoop his ass if that's the case, but I doubt she'll show up here soooooo-
But enough about Doomstrike (although I could definitely make a post about it espressing ny thoughts, wink wink), I realise I could be wrong and maybe Bert's just playing some double agent game, and if that's the case hell yeah Marvel prove me wrong you go girl 💅. But yeah, we'll see.
My second thought is: who the FUCK is Citizen V now???
Because Zemo's dead as hell and at this point I can't even begin to wrap my head around John Watkins the 3rd being in the tights again. Not because I wouldn't want him to, more so he hasn't shown up in anything in the last, 10? 20 years? And also I'm not sure how villainous of a guy he is...? Cap's in the cover so I can only assume the two of them are gonna have something going on (maybe it's gonna touch on that one annual they have?) but frankly I haven't got a clue.
Also, it's pretty obvious this Citizen V is purple rather than blue. In the original run it worked like a charm to differentiate Zemo (purple) from Watkins (blue) but when the Fisk-hired Tbolts showed up in that one Punisher comic Zemo was wearing the mask again and he was blue so really it's anyone's guess if Marvel's sticking by that rule.
And if it turns out to be Zemo-
I mean I guess I wouldn't be against it but also I'm expecting an Abe Jenkins wrapped up with a neat little bow on my desk by tomorrow.
Seriously though if Helmut - whose decapitated body was shown in One World Under Doom - can come back so can the one guy whose body they never bothered showing in the first place. Alright Abe Jenkins quota has been met, where was I?
Zemo. And if it's not Zemo either and it turns up to be some rando, then the Citizen V mantle is officially as dead as the Thunderbolts title is. Having the Contessa wearing it for Doomstrike with zero context was bad enough, I don't think it can survive another hit.
Oh also Blizzard is there but I'm not really sure how Thunderbolt-y of a character he REALLY is...? With two other Tbolts in the story you'd think he's gonna have something of that sort going on but I also wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't. I'd actually like it if Donnie started grappling with redemption again. Given his softer nature, I think it could be interesting.
Aaaaaaaand that's most of my thoughts wrapped up. I'm really just grasping at straws trying to understand what's gonna happen to the OGs at this point. But what are your thoughts on the matter?
